Vehicle Detail

I bought this car used in the UK in 2002. It is a right hand drive and up until I left it had a current MOT (roadworthiness) and tax certificate. I have all of the importation paperwork (I brought it in through Houston from the UK) but have not registered the car for use in the US (neither Texas nor California) It is a rare site in the US but the Giovanni Michelotti body design is very clean with great lines. It will start and run, I however have not driven it for several years due to cascading problems that are getting worse with age. Appearance: Inca yellow with black interior and black softtop. Original Mk 1 alloy wheels with recommended tires. Tires are old and show sidewall cracking but have plenty of tread life. General rust issues around the car. Doors are rusted. I have replacements. Paint is fading but was new 8 years ago after the previous owner completed a shell swap - It needs to be resprayed. Interior is overall fair. The vinyl is in good condition and the softtop is also functional. Some electrical issues - Neither clock nor tachometer operating. No stereo and one of the electric window switches doesn't work. It does not have the original stag motor - It was converted to a Rover SD1 motor (same block as the land rover) before I bought it in the UK. It has an Oberhausen intake manifold and Edelbrock carb. Fair conversion. SD1 motor may need a cylinder head job - I'm getting overheating when I drive it. I replaced the radiator in the UK. It is also leaking oil from what I think is the front main seal. Power steering may also have a leak. Hard to tell due to the oil leak. Stainless steel exhaust. Electronic ignition. Overdrive does not seem to work in the orignal 4 speed manual transmission. Fuel pump has some issues - Probably from old gas and not using it enough. Fixable to verify operation Vacuum assist for the brakes has some problem not yet identified - it is unhooked at the moment which makes a test drive not possible. I changed all of the body suspension to nylon bushings. - this was a big help with handling. I have many spare parts and most of the original trim chrome for the hardtop. I have other priorities right now and lost interest in working on cars. Please contact me if you would like to see it - I am in Novato, CA USA. You must arrange for your own shipping!
