1955 FORD F100 SURVIVOR KUSTOM FROM THE 60'S!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS MY EVERYDAY TRUCK AND BIKE HAULER. I'VE HAD THIS TRUCK FOR 2 YEARS AND ALMOST 8000 TROUBLE FREE MILES. ITS TAKEN ME TO BONNEVILLE AND MANY TRIPS TO OREGON. I LOVE THIS TRUCK BUT I HAVE OTHER PROJECTS THAT NEED TO GET FINISHED. I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK 2 YEARS AGO FROM A GUY IN OREGON. HE BOUGHT THE TRUCK 20 YEARS PRIOR IN CALIFORNIA. HE TOLD ME IT WAS IN AN OLD ISSUE OF CAR CRAFT. I LOOKED AT MY OLD 60'S ISSUES BUT COULDN'T FIND IT. THEN AGAIN, MY OLD MAGAZINE COLLECTION ISN'T VERY EXTENSIVE (ANYBODY RECOGNIZE IT??? PLEASE LET ME KNOW). IT WAS UPDATED IN THE LATE 70'S/EARLY 80'S WITH A BLOWN 454, WIDENED FENDERS AND TRUE SPOKES. THATS WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE WHEN HE GOT IT. OTHER THAN THE MOTOR SWAP, THAT IS HOW I GOT IT. THE 454 WAS TO MUCH FOR HIM SO HE SWAPED IN THE SMALL BLOCK. THEN AFTER ENJOYING IT AS A STREET ROD, IT EVENTUALLY FOUND ITS WAY OUTSIDE TO A COVERED CARPORT WERE THE ELEMENTS STARTED TO TAKE THEIR TOLL. I WILL START WITH THE BEST PART..THE BODY. THE TOP HAS BEEN CHOPPED (NOT SURE HOW MUCH), IT HAS A FRENCHED POWER ANTENNA, PINCHED FRONT FENDERS, SHAVED HOOD, CANTED '59 IMPALA LIGHTS, UP SIDE DOWN RAMBLER GRILL, CHROME RUNNING BOARDS, DUAL FRENCHED '59 CADDY TAILLIGHTS, SMOOTHED BE RAILS AND CAPS, ROLLED FRONT AND REAR PAN, COWL VENTS REMOVED. IT WOULD COST A TON TO HAVE ALL THIS WORK DONE NOW DAYS. THE PAINT IS OLD BLACK LACQUOR THAT IS CRACKING. I PRIMED THE SPOTS WERE IT WAS FLAKING AWAY TO THE PAINT LAYER UNDERNEATH (WHITE, BLUE, ORANGE, AND YELLOW) YES THERE IS BONDO CRACKING TOO IN SPOTS. I ALWAYS FIGURED I WOULD TEAR THE TRUCK DOWN WHEN SOMETHING WENT WRONG, BUT NOTHING EVER HAS, SO I JUST KEEP DRIVING. I LIKE THE FACT THAT I CAN THROW BIKES IN THE BACK OR LOAD IT UP WITH JUNK HEADED FOR THE DUMP AND NOT HAVE TO WORRY. ITS A TRUCK AFTERALL, AND THATS WHAT I USED IT AS. THE MOTOR IS A 350/350 COMBO. I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY MILES ARE ON IT. IT SHOWS 44,500 AND STILL IS CLICKING OVER (IT HAD 36,800 WHEN I GOT IT), SO MAYBE THEY RESET IT WHEN THE INSTALLED IT. I NEVER THOUGHT TO ASK. TRUCK IS VERY RELIABLE AND HAS NEVER LET ME DOWN. WILL BLOW A LITTLE SMOKE ABOUT 50% OF THE TIME WHEN YOU START IT UP, BUT ITS BEEN DOING THAT SINCE i GOT IT. JUST ONE LIGHT PUFF. I'VE DRIVEN THE TRUCK TO BONNEVILLE, AND ON SEVERAL TRIPS TO OREGON (NOT TO MENTION AS EVERYDAY TRANSPORTATION) AND HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS. RUNS COOL. TRUCK HAS BEEN CLIPPED AND HAS POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. GOES DOWN THE ROAD NICE AND STOPS REALLY WELL. HAS 9 INCH REAR END. THE ONE THING I CHANGED WHEN I BOUGHT THE TRUCK WAS THE WHEELS AND TIRES. BOTH THE CHROME REVERSE WHEELS AND THE TIRES ARE IN PRACTICALLY NEW. THE INTERIOR IS IN GOOD SHAPE OTHER THAN THE CARPET (ALOT OF THAT WAS ME AND DIRTY PARTS). IT HAS POWER WINDOWS AND A NICE OVERHEAD PANEL FILLED WITH OLD STEWARD WARNER GAUGES. THE TACH IS NOT HOOKED UP AND THE OIL TEMP GAUGE DOESN'T WORK. EVERYTHING ELSE WORKS GREAT. POWER SEAT, TILT COLUMN AND CRAPPY CD PLAYER. BED IS THE SAME PLYWOOD THAT WAS IN IT WHEN I GOT IT. HAS SEEN MANY A MOTORCYCLE. THERE ARE THINGS THAT THIS TRUCK COULD USE, BUT IT DOESN'T NEED ANYTHING TO DRIVE IT EVERY DAY. IT WOULD BE COOL TO SEE SOMEONE TRACK DOWN ITS HISTORY AND RESTORE IT BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS IN THE 60'S.
