Vehicle Detail

1942 Buick Super 8 Convertible Model 50. Magnificent, pre-war Deco car. This sporty convertible coupe packs a powerful straight 8 engine. Purchased new by sellers grandfather just prior to halt in auto production for WWII. Yes, it is a 1942! Rare car, show restorers dream machine! Has some body damage to right rear fender area. Convertible top is unusable, needs replaced. Had black and white rolled upholstery installed over original red leather in the 60s. My grandfather purchased, sold to my father in 50's and then driven in high school by my 2 older brothers and me in the 60's. The car is drivable as is, but needs to be restored to it's former glory! This sporty convertible coupe packs a powerful straight 8 cylinder engine. The car was purchased new by sellers grandfather just prior to halt in auto production for WWII. When it arrived at dealer they had been instructed to remove spare tire and wheel and jack for war material, but my grandfather was a country doctor and got an exemption to keep them. My father then purchased the car from his dad after the war as a second car driven very little and alway kept in a garage. In 1960 the car was given to my older brother when he turned 16. He had the car customized to his liking, painting it red, installing a white top and black and white interior and converted the column shift to a floor shift. My middle brother then drove it in high school, and finally I drove it till I graduated in 1969. My dad then had the car re-painted back to its original gray. But the white top and black and white interior remain. I believe the orginal red leather interior is under the current vinyl upholstery, but don't know its condition. It has only been driven on a few special occassions such as parades in the last 30 years, but has remained garaged and peridically serviced. There is body damage to the right rear fender area. It is nearly rust free as it has always been in the semi-arid climate of Southeast Colorado. The fabric of the convertible top is damaged and will need to be replaced to be usable. I installed an inexpensive battery (6 Volt) a couple years ago to move the car from my parents home we sold upon their passing. I had it serviced then, but it has been sitting idle since outside under a cover. The car is certainly drivable as is, but needs to be restored to it's former glory by a car buff who loves and appreciates the beautiful cars of the past!On May-07-10 at 10:48:54 PDT, seller added the following information: NO WARRANTY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
