Up for auction is a rare Volkswagen Golf with a 4 cylinder DIESEL engine with a 5 speed transmission. This car has been in the same family it's whole life. It was purchased by my friends father new from Green Volkswagen in Springfield, IL and it has always been serviced by an independent repair shop in Springfield that specialized in Volkswagen. You can see all the standard info above so I'll just give you my best description. This car runs and drives but does need brake work, it will stop but you have to pump the brakes a few times to build up pressure and then stand on them pretty good to stop, they are grinding pretty good so I'm sure a complete brake job is in order. I just put a brand new radiator and battery in it. The clutch feels pretty good and doesn't slip. The tires hold air but are cracked and should be replaced soon. The drivers side window cable is broken, I took the panel off and put some vice grips on the track to keep the window from falling down. The alternator belt is a little loose and there is no more adjustment left as far as I can tell, it won't fall off but the battery light does come on at idle but as soon as you give it a little gas it goes off. I've driven the car as far as 20 miles at a time and everything appears to be in working order. The shifter can be a little tough to get into 5th gear but it will go after a couple of attempts. The plates on the car are from 2006 so it hasn't been driven regularly for a while. It does not have a radio installed but the wiring is there. It does not have air conditioning. The body is in really good shape with very minimal rust as shown in the pics. The interior is in very nice condition with a couple stains on the seats and carpet that I think would come out with a shampoo. The headliner does have a couple holes in it, I tried to show it in the pic but it didn't turn out very well. The car was in some sort of fender bender at the front right corner that damaged the fender and plastic grille. There is also a small dent at right side rear wheel well. The windshield does have a crack about 3/4 of the way across about 6 inches from the top, other than that all glass is good. The paint was pretty oxidized so I waxed and buffed it and the shine came back very well. This is a very unique car that you don't see very often. Please ask any question prior to bidding. I have a clean, clear title in my hand and this car will sell to the highest bidder. I don't have a BIN or a reserve and it is not for sale locally. I will consider ending the auction early for a very good offer but I really enjoy the auction. You're welcome to come take a look at the car if you're close enough.
