1996 BMW 740 iL for sale. I'm selling this one because I'm replacing it with the same exact, but NEWER car, otherwise I wouldn't be selling it. What the car has: Black exterior with sand/beige leather interior Every luxury amenity available at the time of production 4.4 liter V8 engine with 282 FURIOUS German horses under the hood! 5-speed automatic transmission ABS brakes Traction Control Power EVERYTHING! locks, windows, power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, AM/FM/Cassette with FACTORY 6 CD changer in the trunk, power seats, with easy to operate 3 position memory on the driver's on the driver's side. 150K miles (that's LESS than 11,000 miles a year!) BRAND NEW front Bilstein shocks installed less than six months ago. BRAND NEW BRAKES Brembo rotors and Euro ceramic pads installed front and rear less than 6 months ago. The rotors STILL have that new look on the surface! BRAND NEW radiator, coolant reservoir, radiator hoses, fan, fan clutch, and belts installed less than 2 years ago. BRAND NEW Michelin Primacy MXV tires installed less than one month ago. The full-size spare is excellent shape as well. Professional tune-up performed by Haus Of Bimmer of the Bronx last May with ALL original BMW parts and platinum plugs done May '09 THE GOOD: The engine and transmission are STRONG. No knocks, misfires, skips, stalling, or sputtering by the engine. All oil changes done on time and with Mobil 1 synthetic oil. No slipping, no chattering, no banging by the transmission. It shifts smoothly and crisply throughout all five gears. The car has BALLS! Don't be fooled by it's size. This car is FAST and handles superbly. If Mike Tyson in his prime had been a car, he'd be a BMW 740 iL! It's a quiet and smooth ride whether you're hitting pot holes while stuck in traffic on the Bruckner or if you're flying on the I-87 NYS Thruway doing 80 mph. This car is SO smooth, you won't feel ANYTHING when you're driving. There IS one problem with how smooth it is. There will be times you won't realize how fast you're going until you look at the speedometer. 80 mph feels like 50 in this car, so you need to be careful that way. It's a comfortable car for those short trips to the store or that long ride to Foxwoods. The power seats have ALL kinds of adjustments, including upper and lower lumbar support. You'll be hard pressed to find a more comfortable car. Also, this car is the "iL", meaning it's the L O N G wheelbase. There's plenty of room for three adults back there, even for your friend with the long giraffe legs! THE BAD: There is a price to be paid for all the luxury, performance, and handling this car delivers, and that price is fuel economy on local streets. It's a V8, but you already knew that. THE UGLY: Bear in mind you're buying a USED car, and with that come normal wear and tear of a used car of this vintage. Other than that, there's really nothing ugly about this car.
