Vehicle Detail

1970 Plymouth Road Runner. I recently (2 months ago) purchased this car from the original owner's sister. Original owner passed away last year and his sister was taking care of his affairs which included his residence and belongings. A friend of mine was remodeling the home to prepare for sale and called me with the find in the back yard. I have the original title dated 2-19-70 , final sale price of 3503.50. I have not applied for a new title, whoever purchases this car will be the second owner. Car was purchased and driven locally, I believe the mileage is actual considering this was not his only vehicle over the years, and this became more of a toy. The car is a real snapshot of the era (more than one era, actually) as it comes complete with air shocks, traction bars, ET mags, fender flares, FM booster antenna, Cherry Bombs, etc. I actually removed blue shag carpet from the car ! Vehicle was originally a 383 column auto car, Vitamin C, performance hood treatment, black vinyl top. At some point, a '72 440 was swapped and a pistol gripped 4-speed installed (best I can tell, the 4-speed is a 70, based on Julian date). A manual shift steering column went in as well. Engine has some external mods such as headers, Edelbrock intake, Holley carb, Accel coil, Mallory distributor, etc. Engine turns over by hand no problem, but don't know why the owner parked it in the mid 90's. Has an 8 3/4 with a 3:55, 489 case. I pulled the back seat and found the build sheet but was disappointed to find the build sheet was to another car (it happens). The build sheet was for a 4-speed car with N96 air-grabber package. Build sheet for this car may be out there in Mopar land somewhere! The build sheet I found goes with the car. Okay....pictures tell most of the story. This car was too much for me as a casual, garage restorer. All trim is great, only missing 2-3 pieces (don't ask me what he was thinking with those mirrors!). Dash is great condition with the exception of the pad. Seats need recovered (back bench actually has no tears at all), door panels need replaced, etc. Glass is all good (that's old tint you see in th pics). Bumpers are shot. Grill, tail panel and lights are perfect. The issue obviously is sheet metal. This is not a summertime father-son project (unless you're both professional body men!). You either need experience and a lot of time, or no experience and a lot of money to restore this car. I don't have enough of either! Most all sheet metal is available, but a donor car might be helpful as well. I do not want to mislead anyone - this is a big project but, restore this car and you'll be the second owner of a low mileage Road Runner, which might be kinda cool. By the way, frame rails and underside are sound, only a B-body guy would know why this car rusted the way it did while sitting behind the house. I know approximately what I could get parting it out as there are a lot of real good parts on the car, but that would be a shame. Obviously I won't let it go for less than what parts are worth, and if you're familiar with the cars, you can do the math in your head. Also has three additional intake manifolds in the trunk, one other Eddy and two factory irons, a couple front sway bars, and three more ET mags.
