Vehicle Detail
The motorcycle you are bidding on is a nicely restored 1974 Honda MT250 Elsinore. This is the first year model of the Honda MT250 and would be a great bike for any Honda enthusiast. I originally purchased this bike for exploring the backroads and mountains of Tennessee. At the time, the bike had a completely rebuilt motor by a Honda dealer and ran and shifted perfectly and the oil injection was also intact and working properly. The suspension was really poor, so I had the forks refurbished with OEM seals and then had the fork lowers polished and clear-coated. The rear shocks were replaced with new units to get the back end of the bike working good too. The bike was in nice shape, however it was painted a dark blue color. So, I had all the bodywork stripped from the machine and re-painted back to the original colors with the original decals. I also replaced numerous fasteners and rubber bits with all the NOS parts that I could locate. I have never been a fan of dual-sport tires because they don't seem to work in the dirt or on the road. I opted for more aggressive knobby tires and also added new sprockets for better off-roading fun. The tank had the normal rust issues inside and I had to purchase three tanks from Ebay before I finally received one that was clean and rust-free like I wanted. The last thing that I did to the bike was paint the exhaust and had the aluminum heat shield polished to a satin finish and then clear-coated with high-temp clear paint. The bike is basically all refurbished, the seat is just about the only part that wasn't replaced or improved. The bike also comes with an owner's manual and a clear title, and some spare parts. The only pieces that I did not put on the bike were the turn signals. I just felt that the solid-mounted signals don't hold up to off-road riding. Plus, they look badly when they are all bent and deranged after a simple tipover in the dirt. All the original wiring is still on the bike if someone wanted to easily add them. Anyways, I recently relocated to Florida and don't have room to keep so many bikes. Check out my other auction on a Suzuki TM400. I have set the reserve on the bike for a fraction of what I have invested in them. Good luck bidding.
