Vehicle Detail

Up for your consideration is this 1969 Cutlass Convertible project car. Please note I do NOT have the title for this car, the buyer will get a bill of sale only. As you can see from the pictures the car has many good things going for it as well as some problem areas. First, the not so good. The bottom of the drivers side front fender has rusted through and will need repaired or replace. The bottom of the passenger side is still attached but has rust damage that will require repairs as well. The lower quarters on both sides are rusty and will need patched or replaced with 1/2 quarters. The drivers side floor board has a hole where the drivers feet would be other than that the floor is pretty solid. I was walking all over it as I was cleaning it up for the pics and never found a soft spot. The trunk floor is rusted through on each side and will need replaced. The radiator in the parts pic has a hole in the lower row. The torque converter has debris down inside of it as well so it will need rebuilt or replaced. You will also notice I have none of the convertible top mechanism or hardware. Moving on to the good. The frame is in really good shape. Back in the mid 80's a restoration had been started and the frame had been stripped and painted with an industrial type black paint. Well that paint held up very well over the years and the frame is in good shape as a result. The engine bay pic shows how well the front part of the frame held up. Most of the trim pieces are in good to really good shape. The bumpers are starting to lose some chrome but overall they are in very good condition. All the glass is in the car (save the convertible rear window). The front glass is pretty much flawless from what I can see. The front window trim is in really good condition. The doors both open and the hinges do not sag at all. I was not able to get the trunk open (the key turns but the trunk would not open). The gauge cluster is in great shape too. The car has a 12 bolt rear end but I do not know what gear or if it is a posi or open diff. The brakes are all drums. Additional pics can be found at http://s131.photobucket.com/albums/p302/ccm399/Cutlass/?start=all There is no shipping offered for this sale. We have equipment on site to assist in loading the car onto your trailer. A $100 non-refundable deposit is required within 24hours of the close of the auction. The remainder of the money will be due when picking up the car. I have done my best to describe this car as completely and accurately describe the condition of this car, please review the pictures and ask any questions you may have before you bid! The mileage listed is based on the odometer reading but I do not know if it is correct. I do know the car has been sitting for at least 30 years so the 16,218 might be correct. I do not have the engine of transmission. I will be out of town this week but I will be checking my eBay and E-mail accounts every night at the hotel. The VIN tag looks like this: st69 33667 lan 253981 bdy ST69 = 1969 3 = Oldsmobile 36 = Cutlass V-8 67 = 2d convertible LAN = Lansing Michigan 55 = Turquoise A = White Convertible Top 01c = January 1969 Third Week Thanks for looking and happy bidding. On May-07-10 at 11:04:43 PDT, seller added the following information: Now that I am back in town I have added a new Gallery of Pictures for the car based on questions people were asking. Please copy and paste the following link into another browser window or tab:http://s131.photobucket.com/albums/p302/ccm399/Cutlass2/ These additional pictures (the other link/gallery still has 44 pictures in it) will show more detail about the front fenders and rear quarter panels. They show what I was trying to describe as the quarter panels behind the tires will need patched replaced with half quarters. Also, the same deal goes for the front fenders behind the tires. The drivers side is completely rusted through (as described previously) and the passenger side is on its way to rusting through too. I also had a chance to look over the frame a little closer and while it is in good shape there is rust around the factory stamped in holes but I do not see anywhere that would cause troubles for someone needing the frame. Please note all of my inspection has happened with the car on the ground and me laying on my back looking around from the drivers side of the car. I hope the additional pictures help answer your questions. I have really tried to describe this car as accurately as possible. However, make no mistake about if you plan to restore this there will be a lot of work involved. It is by no means ready for body/paint work. It will require a FULL RESTORATION. For someone looking for parts or a good project I believe you will not be disappointed. Happy bidding!
