Up for auction is an original 1978 Chevy Impala 2 door with 37K original miles. The car was built in the Southgate GM plant and spent its entire life in Southern California until I purchased it and had it transported here in an enclosed trailer. I have a copy of the California title showing mileage at transfer. The original owner was an older couple who rarely drove the car, especially in their later years. The motor is a smooth running 305 automatic with the standard 3 speed automatic transmission. The body of the car is excellent. Having spent its entire life in southern California, there are no rust bubbles, no rust out, rot or anything like that on this car. The floorboards are solid. The rear quarters have no filler or rust on them. The frame is perfect. There is just a minimal amount of surface rust on the gas tank. The seams for the wheel wells in the trunk are perfect. The original mat and cardboard inserts along the sides are still intact and in good shape. Outside, the paint is good to very good. There is some fading on the roof and hood, and some minor dings and dents along the sides, but the paint presents well and is the original lacquer from the factory. There is a ding on the lip of the trunk lid that was touched up sometime in the past. There is some touch up spots to the paint on the panel between the taillights, but the lights are perfect and still have the chrome paint detail. Inside, the interior is in good shape. The headliner is perfect. The dash has a few hairline cracks in the center. The rear seat looks like it was never sat on. The driver's seat has some definite wear spots and is thin but is not ripped or torn . There are some wear spots on the carpeting and the original GM floor mats in the front have wear to them as well. The rear floor mats are perfect. The A/C blows cold but the compressor is just a tad noisy. The cigarette lighter has never been used. Underhood, the engine is very clean. I did not detail or steam clean the engine but there is minimal grime or dirt and the valve covers have the original GM blue paint that is in good shape. Also, the car has a newer battery. Overall, this is a very clean 1978 Impala. With a relatively rare build count compared to the sedans, the unique 3 year only rear window and being a rust free California car, this car will only appreciate in value. I've set a fair reserve on the car considering its condition and mileage. Please ask all questions prior to bidding. Your bid is a contract to buy, not to come take a look at the car.
