Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1987 944 S 16 valve 5 speed manual transmission, mileage 93,688 approx. No known accident history. Option Codes BS5, C77, 418, 425, 454, 533, 650, 946. Sold out of Binghamton, NY, dealer #1720 stamped in manual. No rust. Purchased the car Approx 9 months ago to perform an LS1 V-8 conversion. See Renegade Hybrids. I have changed directions and recently purchased a 944 Turbo, therefore the reason for selling this car. I have original warranty / maintenance and owners manual for car, with original owners information, purchase date 27 Feb 1988. Oil changes are listed in the factory maintenance book all the way to 27 May 1996 with the mileage at that time of 61,871. Mobil One oil changes approx every 3,000 miles, both existing and previous ownership. Receipts on work done to car since my ownership as well. Very clean engine compartment, solid 944S 16V with no oil leaks, dry. I feel this engine would go another 100k+ miles based on how well it has been maintained over the years. Look at the mileage of other listed 944's. This car does not burn, or leak any oil, or power steering fluid. Very solid sounding 16V. After I purchased the car I took it into Midwest Performance Cars in Chicago for an inspection with car checking out for nothing other than fresh fluid changes. I have this report as well. Listing of items, with receipts, I have performed on car under my ownership are: Two new CV Axels, complete Axels, not existing rebuilt ones, performed at 91,956 miles. Cost of $550.00, 25 Jan 2010 for CV’s themselves . Spent $643.58, 18 Sep 2009 @ 88,503 miles on Stainless Steel Brake Lines, bled and flushed brake system / clutch DOT 4 Super Blue. Flush refill Gear Box / Transmission Fluid, 75W/90 Synthetic Royal Purple. Spent $249.26 on 22 Jan 2010 @ 90,246 miles on Diagnosis and replacement of DME and Fuel Pump. Replaced Spark Plugs, ignition Coil, Distributor Cap, Rotor and Spark Plug Wires 16 Nov 2009 @ 90,804 miles. Cost of over $300. Replaced all bulbs, Fog Light bulbs, and Headlights. Rebuilt the Power Steering unit myself, 24.99 in parts. Replaced the windshield 11 Sept 2009, cost of $190. New Porsche Hood Crest, $33.95. New Leather Shift Boot 17 Sept 2009 @ $ 24.99. Previous owner put new Sumitomo tires, 225/45R17 and 255/40R17’s on existing OZ Racing rims, 4 April 2009 approx 87,000 miles, cost of $409.82 on rubber alone, and have receipt for this. Most importantly on 1 April 2009 @ 87,352 miles Timing Belt, Water Pump, Tensioners, radiator hoses, anti-freeze, and related items replaced. Recently had Timing belt re-tensioned. New Battery in Aug 2009, 87,000 miles. All receipts and records for this as well. Cost of approx $995.03. I have no documentation on the Clutch, and the action / engagement seems fine, but one area where I have no documentation. Car was originally black but repainted at some point in the existing color, which is actually a nice color. Interior is as shown, with a couple rips in the seats. Dash has the customary crack down the center. Aftermarket Stereo CD with 8 speaker system, very nice sound. Gas gauges on these cars are prone to not working. I have replaced the sending unit, but believe the problem is in the gauge itself. Has a nice MOMO steering wheel, which give a real nice feel to the drive, responsive/accurate. 993 / 968 Porsche mirrors. White face gauges. The starter is clean and brand new, but no documentation on when replaced. Aftermarket front Clip, along with Turbo rear air de-fuser valance. I also put an aftermarket computer chip in. The hood was replaced at one point, due to tools left in the engine compartment, and hood shut on them, thus causing a dent. Hood painted in black flat primer. I had a quote from a paint shop to repaint the hood and front clip with fender blending in Chicago for approx 700., but not done. I have found no evidence that this car has ever been in an accident from myself, or Midwest Performance Cars in their inspections on the rack. Car has aftermarket KONI rear shocks, and KONI shocks / front adjustable springs. Aftermarket Porsche center tail light. Car is what it is for a 23 years old, with it's own shakes, and vibrations on the large 2.5L 4 cyl engine. For the money once you drive it, then park it, you will want to go out again and take the long way home. Low production numbers on the 944 S models. I have driven this car on numerous trips of over 350 miles at a time, and one trip of 600 miles with no issues and got up to 28 MPG on the highway. Independent inspections welcome at your expense. Call me with any specific questions regarding the vehicle. Cell @ 312.320.8699, or e-mail; choisohang@aol.com. Leave a message if no answer, and I will return the call. On May-08-10 at 21:14:42 PDT, seller added the following information: I also have a 1999 Firebird LS1, 34k miles, 5.7L engine on a stand with a cherry picker for anyone who was looking at doing the LS1 conversion. The engine would be sold separate, from the car.
