Up for auction is a 1955 2nd series short bed stepside pick up . I hate to sell it , but I have to. First , a litttle history . This is the 8,704 th truck to come out of the Altanta Ga. plant in late 1955 . Brought up from Ga. in 1994 and used as a farm vehicle until 2004 when I bought it . The truck was original , average rot but very restorable . This is what I have completed and /or purchased 1.All new sheet metal work, rockers , door supports cab corners , fender mount , one cab support, and more. All mig welded in by a professional shop. 2.Rot free bed from New Mexico 3.2 new steel front fenders from D.I.I. 4.used rot free hood from S. California 5.2 damage free inner fenders from S.California 6.Used but rebuilt 3 speed transmission 7.New wire harness 8.new brakes, whl cyl's master cyl ,lines ,wheel bearings , e brake cables and resurface drums 9.4 new door hinges 10 door latch mechanisms 11. Rot free tail gate from the midwest 12. boiled and leak checked radiator 13.2 O.E.M. doors rot free 14. epoxy painted rust proofed and sealed frame and under body That's most of the big items .Then there is all those little things such as switches knobs, choke cable , speedo cable wiper motor, glove box door , ashtray to name a few This truck starts , runs, drives stops and shifts as it should , I drove it around the side streets a little . It tracks straight with no wheel shimmy . I have spent at least 10 k on this truck. I took no short cuts and it is is about 80% done to original specs. It is in prime but not ready for paint some small dents and dings need to be finished but I did the hard stuff. This is not a hot rod , but could be one . I have almost everything to complete . I do NOT have all the glass , tail lights or directionals . This is a very good start , there are very few of the trucks that have not been cut up . If you are looking to do and original restore this could be your truck . I am starting the bidding at about half of what I have invested . there is no reserve All I need is one bid .
