Vehicle Detail
1976 Jaguar xj6c (series II) - 6 cylinder coupe with 39,815 miles PS, PB, automatic transmission, climate system recently serviced and the air conditioning works and is cold. This is a good running condition vehicle that could easily be a daily driver in a good weather climate. The only rust on the vehicle is on the two rear wrap-around bumper pieces - these are separate, bolt-on pieces to the bumper that are easily found on EBay. There is one piece listed current for $94 buy-now. Car is regularly driven during summer months. It cruises along very nicely, has a smooth idle, and is tight. Repairs made by prior owner (recent): - Exhaust - Front seat leather - Paint (original color) - Tires Repairs made by me, Jags Unlimited in Highland Park, IL or Golz Motors in Deerfield, IL since March, 2007: - Front windshield, front and rear window seals, and new vinyl top - Front and rear suspension: front & rear shocks (8), steering rack, tie rod ends, urethane bushings, upper and lower ball joints (4), sway bar bushings, upper control arm bushings, wheel alignment. - Dashboard and glovebox door (new old stock, not refinished) - Battery and hold-down - Power window switches - Left fuel tank fuel pump and gauge sending unit - Fan clutch - Rebuilt carburetors - Climate control / AC overhaul – new switches, relay, miscellaneous -COLD AC! - Tune-up including new plugs, cap, rotor, filters (at 38,580 miles) Over $10,000 invested since purchase of the car in 2006 (receipts available). 98 detailed photos of the vehicle are available online at: http://photobucket.com/76jaguarxj6c There are a few, minor interior items to address: - Door panels need to be refurbished or replaced - primarily because of wear to the armrests - Horn is operated through a button on the underside of the knee panel under the dash as there is a short in the horn wiring in the steering column - There is a problem with a servo on the climate control which causes switching between the heater and AC to stick on heating sometimes. As this is a Summer driver, the servo control for the heater has been disconnected so that the AC operates without difficulty - THE AC is cold! Mechanic and online research suggest a vaccum leak, disconnected vacuum line, or servo replacement. NOS Servo units inexpensive on eBay. - Speedometer is a bit tweaky - it bounces around intermittently when travelling in the 0 - 5 mph range. Probably related to a speedo cable either the one from the trans to the cruise unit or from the cruise unit to the speedo itself. Aftermarket cruise control has been disabled.
