Vehicle Detail

A beautiful Corvair Monza that is in need of a younger owner to give it some more TLC, not much, but some. The previous owner who had it for over 10 years spent $3,100 in the last two years prior to my buying the car. The engine was the largest expense as well as new tires and brakes. I am responsible for the paint, new windshield, new white door panels from Clarks, fuzzies, weatherstrip, battery and miscellaneous items from Calif. Corvairs. I have all receipts and will give them to a new owner. I have built a center console and installed an AM/FM CD player and four speakers with two in front and two in back. Beautiful sound! Everything works on the car. It also has a remote outside mirror on the drivers side. What needs to be done; The transmission was removed when the engine was overhauled and it was not correctly adjusted when re-installed. It allows the engine to rev up for a second when going from low to high. Requires the car to be raised and adjusted by the book. This takes a man younger than 86 years old. When I had a new windshield installed and the trim put back on, the installer said he found some rust in the trim area. See picture to locate the area. I have the old windshield if a new owner wants it. The seats inside are the original ones and show signs of splitting in the seam. I was going to order new white covers and have them installed. In the meantime I have put Black sheepskin covers on them. I would say you could drive this car most anyplace. Just have a few basic tools to carry along. All the glass is perfect. I was building a 140 engine to put in this car but have not finished yet. If a new owner wanted the engine at a later date it could be discussed at that time. It is a complete power train. If anyone would like additional information I would be happy to answer questions. Thank You, Jim Stansbury SDCC member.
