Vehicle Detail

1965 Jaguar E-Type Open Two-Seater | Documented Original California Car Presented for your consideration is a spectacular example of the Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2 Litre Roadster. As documented by its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate No. 26783, this incredible automobile was manufactured on the 28th of October, 1964 with a Black exterior paint color, Black interior trim color, and a Black hood. Dispatched on the 16th of November 1964, it was received by its first owner, Mr. William Ward of Mountain View, California shortly thereafter. Mr. Ward paid Peninsula British Cars, Inc. $6,271.12 for his new XKE Jaguar, with an agreed trade-in value of $1,571.12 for his 1961 Chevrolet Impala. Included in the sale of this car are the original sales receipt from Peninsula British Cars, and the aforementioned Heritage Certificate. Mr. Ward enjoyed his new Jaguar for a number of years, and finally sold it to a co-worker, Mr. John Peterman, in the early 1970’s. Mr. Peterman drove the car sparingly for the next 30 years. In the summer of 2005 Mr. Peterman was attending the Palo Alto Concours d’Elegance when he spotted Mark Hacker’s 1E30001, the first 4.2 Litre LHD Jaguar E-Type Coupe, on display. Mark’s car was a Black on Black, multiple concours winning example, and the original Los Angeles Show Car. Taken by the quality of restoration, Mr. Peterman expressed a desire to restore his own car to the same level, and the two gentlemen exchanged telephone numbers. Two years later, Mr. Hacker received a call from Mr. Peterman, and subsequently purchased the car from him. Showing just 24,000 original miles, Mr. Hacker decided to perform a full concours level restoration to the quality of his twin E-Type Coupe. The restoration itself was started in September of 2007, and after working 8 hours a day, 7 days a week, was completed in March 2009. Featured in the October 2008 issue of The E-Type Magazine, the final result was breathtaking, and won 1st place in its only concours outing.
