Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is this unmolested, stock1982 Corvette Collector’s Edition coupe. I purchased this car approximately 10 years ago as a birthday present. It was an EBay purchase and I flew to Spokane, WA and drove it back to CA. I have never regretted purchasing it and never had any problems with it. It has s been a source of pride and enjoyment. To the best of my knowledge, this Corvette has always been garaged and I keep a dust cover on it as well. Like others, I have driven it only short distances in clear weather. During winter months, I have started it, warmed it up to operating temperature, and moved it slightly. This has kept the seals plyable and components lubricated. Best of all, this beauty is equipped with the rare V54 option Roof Panel Carriers. The carrier concept is awesome: you can easily remove the T-Top windows wherever you are, and lash them to the outside rear deck thus giving you more free space in the car’s interior. Only 1,992 carriers were manufactured. The carriers will go with the car. Also, the T-Top bags will go with the car. The interior looks nearly new. The leather seats do not have any rips, etc., the dash is in great shape, and the carpets appear as new. It is equipped with Good Year Eagle GT II tires and they have a lot of miles left on them. There is less than 1k miles on the new Corvette brakes. The battery was replaced in the near past. All of the accessories function: power locks, headlights (and they go up and down), tilt and telescoping steering wheel, driver’s power seat, power mirrors, power antenna, horn, gauges, cornering lights, directional signals, AM/FM stereo. An Alpine stereo is currently installed and I have the original Delco stereo which will go with the car. The glass is in terrific condition. No chips, nicks, etc., and the carpet looks as good as new. The exterior paint is original and it still has the reflective luster that it had when new. There are a few minor nicks when you look closely and this common with most cars. The hood decal is checkered somewhat and this is common with the Collector’s Edition. The rest of the decals are in good shape. I have a complete set of replacement decals which will go with the car. It passed the CA smog inspection test recently. It failed a number of years ago. The EGR port was cleaned (a minor job), retested, and it passed. I am told that this is somewhat common with the so called “muscle” cars. The steering is tight, it goes straight down the highway, and has enormous power. I would not hesitate to take a long trip in it today. CARFAX certifies it to have no accident history, a clear title, etc. The odometer shows 81,400 miles which are actual miles. I have original copies of hard-to-find dealer manuals: (1) The 1982 Corvette Shop Manual, (2) 1953-1982 Corvette parts & Illustration Catalog and (3) Part Identification Catalog. These will go with the Corvette. Visit http://www.idavette.net/facts/82.htm for complete facts and history of the Collector’s Edition. 1982 is the first year of fuel injection and the last year of the “coke bottle” C3 style. The terms: This unmolested, stock, Collector’s Edition Corvette is ready for immediate delivery or shipment to your location. By definition it is a used car although with some detailing it would probably be a good show car. Accordingly, there is no warranty or guarantee (expressed or implied). This is a cash sale only – no bartering, trades, etc. A $1,000 deposit is required via PayPal within 24 hours after the close of the auction. The balance must be paid no later than seven days after the auction closes. The balance due payment must be in the form of a cashier’s check or certified bank check drawn on a U.S. bank. STORAGE, SHIPMENT & AVAILABILITY: The car is ready to go. The auction is scheduled to end on April, 26th. I will be available to transfer/ship it through May 1st. I can accommodate storage for awhile at $15 per day if paid in advance. Although I will be unavailable from May 3-21st, I am willing to store it at my Chula Vista indoor storage unit without charge through May 21st. Charges begin to accrue on May 22nd. In any event, it must be picked up or shipped by June 1, 2010. I have used DAS (Dependable Auto Shippers), in the past and they met my expectations. This does not constitute an endorsement of them. I am willing to deliver the car to a transporter of your choice if they are located within a reasonable distance from Chula Vista, CA. The successful bidder is responsible for all shipping charges. You must make arrangements and pay the transporter before I take the vehicle to them. Please do not bid unless you really want this Corvette and have secured the funds/financing. I may provide Second Chance Offers to bidders at my sole discretion. The potential buyer must have bid during the auction. Any and all Section Chance Offers will be based on a realistic price for the Corvette regardless of bid amounts. You are welcome to personally inspect this Corvette (at your own expense), in at my storage unit in Chula Vista, CA which is just south of San Diego. I have endeavored to describe the vehicle to the best of my ability. The inspection window will close 48 hours before the scheduled end of the auction. I reserve the right to end the auction before its scheduled end regardless of bids. I will answer questions in person or via email. Why am I selling? I love this Corvette, (and I do not need to sell it), but I am recovering from a 2nd open heart surgery within a relatively short period of time and an additional one in the future is a sure bet. Frankly, my circumstances and my lifestyle have changed and I am sure someone else would enjoy it as much as I have. Thank you for looking and good luck!
