Vehicle Detail
I am selling this 1959 Abarth Allemano Spyder with no reserve. I discovered this car while looking at another car in an old garage. It was covered with bags of aluminum cans, and had been sitting there since 1970 -- 40 years! After purchasing it, I brought it home, cleaned it up, and registered it. I don't know a lot about this type of car, so I will try to be as exact as possible in my description (please ask questions). This Fiat Abarth 750 Allemano seems to be original and complete, with the odometer showing just 8,918 miles. It has 5 matching Michelin tires, which I believe to be original to the car. BODY: The body appears to be all aluminum. It has a few small minor dents, but nothing serious. The undercarriage of the car is also all original, and in good condition. The floor pans are solid, with no rust holes. The body and floor pans don't appear to have ever been repaired for any damage. It has the original convertible top, and it is complete and mechanically working. The top pulls right up and snaps into place. The original latches hold the top down, and they are not broken. As you can see in the pictures, the interior is in good original condition. It has all of the original carpeting. All of the windows roll up and down, and there is no broken glass. The windshield is also in nice condition. It has the original tool kit and spare tire, and the trunk compartment is also nice (trunk compartment is in the front, under the hood). The bumpers will need to be rechromed. The doors open and close solidly and with ease. There is no sagging whatsoever. The hood opens and closes easily. There are six cloisonne badges on the car -- three on each side. One is blue and reads "Allemano Torino" with the letter A. Next is a checkered racing flag that reads "Gran Turismo 750" with a green, white, and red arrow that has "Campione Italiano 1956 1957 1958" underneath. The third tag on each side is a blue, yellow and red Abarth Scorpion. There is also an Abarth Scorpion on each of the 4 hubcaps. One hubcap needs a clip to stay on the car. On the horn button in the center of the steering wheel is says Abarth & C, with a Scorpion. The steering is not cracked or broken, and is in very good condition. MECHANICS: There is a metal tag in the engine compartment that reads: ABARTH & C, TORINO, ITALIA, TIPO 750 149, No TELAIO 699394. The tag number matches the VIN number on the title. There is also a number stamped on the engine, which is 641481. After asking a lot of questions, I wasn't sure whether or not internally this engine was a genuine Abarth. I had a mechanic remove the oil pan to inspect the interior of the engine. The steel crankshaft is stamped Abarth, and the numbers B877 and 9 and 59. It also has aluminum rods and pistons. "Millemiglia" is also stamped on the crankshaft. The pistons are stamped PISTONE BORGO. It has an aluminum oil pump. It is also stamped on the block face 5700. Most of the bolts on the engine are marked Fiat 100 with an "A". We removed and cleaned the gas tank and lines, and rebuilt the carburetor and starter. The engine fires right up, and runs good. We drove the car a few hundred feet, and the transmission seems to work fine. It will need some brake clean-up work. Electrically, everything seems to work in the car -- directionals, headlights, etc. It is missing the air cleaner. The car comes with a clear Wisconsin title in my name. The title says the car is a 1961 Fiat, but I was informed that most states assign the year when it was imported to the car. The VIN number on the title matches the body number on the car. I don't know what else I can add at this time, so if you have any questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me. Also, you are more than welcome to come and inspect the car.On Apr-24-10 at 08:40:29 PDT, seller added the following information: We would like to thank all of the people who have given us so much valuable information about this Allemano. All of the comments have been very much appreciated.
