Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 4 Door Sport Sedan project: The car is in great condition for someone who wants to piddle around with it on the weekends and doesn't mind getting their hands dirty with a little bit of body work. The most glaring issue with the car is the rust in the floors. It needs new panels in the front driver and passenger area as well as the trunk. You could probably get away with patching them, however, I would recommend a full floor panel to do it the right way. It has 2 broken pieces of flat glass (rear passenger and driver vent) that shouldn't be too expensive to replace. There are some miscellaneous rust spots on the body but nothing major and out of the ordinary, the fenders are currently off the body for sanding but can be easily put back on for shipping. The interior needs to be completely redone but all of the expensive parts are there! The seat frames are in fine condition (bench front and rear) as well as the steering wheel, dash, all interior chrome (in boxes at the moment) door handles, window cranks, etc. The headlights and taillights work but the blinkers need to be replaced (relay). It needs body mounts, and probably a new transmission mount under the car but the frame looks and feels solid. Outside the car, all chrome is present and probably should be re-chromed if you were restoring the car. The only exception is the rear bumper which has some rot and could be replaced if the buyer so wishes. Up front the engine starts and runs fine and is attached to a 3 speed (car was originally a powerglide) manual transmission on the floor. It is a V8 car and still carries a 283 which I am told has a slight bore from a recent rebuild (looks very clean under the valve covers) and sounds like it has a cam. It also is equipped with a 4bbl carb which was recently rebuilt personally by me. It could stand some tuning and brake pads (and lines) but will move the car and idle fine as is. The body tag reads as follows: Style: 57-1039D Body#: M13879 Trim: 670 Paint: 822 OA Acc: Which decodes as a 57 Bel Air 4 door sport sedan built in Baltimore, Maryland as the 143597th car built at that plant. Originally it came with a 283 super turbo fire V8 with a 4bbl carb and 220 hp (not sure if it's the same as now but would make sense). The interior was silver vinyl w/ silver and black pattern cloth (same as current) and the paint was 822 or a dusk pearl color (special order) normally reserved for the convertibles. As you can see this is a great project car and fewer and fewer of these '57's are around anymore to fix up! Feel free to e-mail me with any questions regarding the car. Buyers are encouraged to look at the car in person to make sure they're getting what they want and shipping is at the buyer's arrangement and expense. I offer no promises as to the condition of this car other than what was stated above and inspection is completely up to the buyer before payment is received. Cash or Certified Check are preferred methods of payment and I expect a $500 deposit within 5 days unless something is worked out prior to the end of the auction. I have a clear PA title and will provide a bill of sale. I am firm on this price and the auction is with no reserve so please no lower offers. I also could be interested in other classic or muscle car trades with money on my part but nothing with a lot of body work. I didn’t know it even really needed to be said but… IF YOU PUT A BID ON THIS CAR YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO PAY FOR IT. This is a NO RESERVE auction, any bid you put in could potentially win this auction. Thanks and good luck! UPDATE:Just went out today and put new battery cables on and started her right up (she hadn't been started in a month or so). All I needed to do was pump the gas a few times and it ran fine. This engine is a champ!
