Vehicle Detail
1970 BMW R75/5 for sale by owner. I've had this bike since the early 90's, but have not used it in many years. It has always been stored indoors. It ran before I put it up, and was last serviced about two years ago. Battery is without a doubt dead and will have to be replaced, and the carburetors should probably be cleaned before running it. The front aluminum seat accents are missing on both sides, the rear ones are there. When you open the seat you will notice “dust,” my only explanation is that the seat cushion is so worn and dry that it is crumbling. The original air pump is there, but it’s really worn. The numbers on the odometer are worn and not all legible. Both rubber fork boots need to be replaced. On the closeup of the foot rest you will see a missing plastic cover (roughly silver dollar sized) that covers the swing arm nut, and some chips in the paint of the frame. The cylinders, heads, and carburetors are from a /6 (/7?). I have the original carbs, but can’t find the original cylinder heads. I was contacted by a very helpful person here who asked for closeups of the frame, and discovered that there was a painted over piece of paint over the frame number. I removed it, and the frame and motor numbers match. I entered "1" for mileage, I have no idea how many miles it has. When the /6 or 7/ heads were installed it was due to one of my original cylinder heads needing to by rebuilt. Not a mechanic here, but the part that the exhaust attaches to was partially broken off and needed to be fixed. Anyway, when those heads were installed the motor was also rebuilt internally. That was a long time ago, but less than 1000 miles of riding. The bike is selling as is, no warranty. The buyer is responsible for pickup/shipping. The bike/title will not be handed over without immediate, full, payment.
