This R-27 is the ultimate Patina Bike. It is in very nice condition kicks over in one kick and runs/drives/stops very well. Everything works, there is an older clear coat spray over the whole bike. And some areas have been repainted. You can see the original Black pin stripe under the re-spray areas. The vast majority of R27 motorcycles exported to the United States by BMW were black with white pinstriping. A few, however, were brought in by importer Butler & Smith in a color called Dover white, with black pinstriping its reported only 50 of the R-27 model were painted Dover white. The head and Piston have been gone through. And the bike runs very nice with no smoke. It is full numbers matching and would make a great bike for a collector. I can assist with loading for shipping. The 250 cc OHV vertical single was the only rubber-mounted thumper engine BMW ever produced, and was their last shaft drive single-cylinder motorcycle. The engine pumped out 18 hp (13 kW), the highest ever for a shaft-drive BMW single. BMW manufactured 15,364 R27 models (engine numbers 372 001 – 387 566 ) over the production years of 1960 to 1966.
