Vehicle Detail

Forest green 2003 Subaru Forester with tan interior, manual transmission. Please feel free to ask questions. We want to be very clear about the vehicle on which you are bidding. The GoodEngine runs wellHeat and AC work wellPower windows and locks work wellStereo works wellGoodyear tires and full size Yokohama spareInterior has just been detailedJust had oil and filter changedSubaru just replaced a control (wheel support) arm on warranty (and wheels aligned)Exterior finish is in good shape on most of the car The BadMinor dings as to be expected on a car of this ageSome corrosion around the rear wheel wellsNeeds a new mid-pipe (between the carburetor and muffler) before it will pass emissions inspectionRust and corrosion underneath the car may require additional attention We had bought this car for our teenage daughter to drive since we have had such a great experience with our 2001 Forester. It had one owner (aside from the dealer from whom we bought it) and pretty low mileage. What was not disclosed, and we did not find until getting it to our Subaru dealer, was that the mid-pipe had rusted through, and some other parts underneath had heavy rust. Our Subaru dealer did replace the right front control arm on warranty. They estimated the mid-pipe replacement at about $500 (we did not price at a Meineke or Midas). We held off on this work to think about how we wanted to handle, though we did have a couple smaller things addressed - replacing front side lamp, a wheel lug nut and stem, as well as oil and filter change. Ultimately we decided to get our daughter a different car, and pass this one to someone who can give it the attention it deserves. There is a lot that's good about this Forester, and with some attention to the rust it could be a great car again. We are selling for a lot less than we paid, just trying to get some of it back out. Great opportunity for someone who can work on cars. Selling as is, where is. I can not ship it, so please pick it up locally or make arrangements to have it picked up.On Sep-11-18 at 13:16:41 PDT, seller added the following information: Added 9/11/2018:I've had a few questions so here is a bit more info: It does run as is, and can be driven away. I drove it a bit when we first got it. It’s just noisy as the exhaust doesn’t get through the muffler. The inspection when we bought it was New York State and not valid now. The Subaru dealer didn’t say much more to us about the condition underneath. We had a local mechanic friend take a look and he thought the brake and/or fuel lines might need to be replaced before too long. If you want to have someone take a look I’d be happy to meet locally if we set up in advance. On Sep-14-18 at 07:07:41 PDT, seller added the following information: I just checked the car and the Check Engine light is now on. It's code P0032 - Ho2S Heater Control Circuit High Bank 1 Sensor 1. We have hardly driven this car so I suspect it had been reset before we bought it, rather than something changing since we've had it.
