The 2016 (same as the 2019)Has been enhanced to 600 Horse Power and 590 lb/ feet to torque. This is 40HP and 80 lb feet of torque more powerful than the 2019 M6. Add in the re purposed All Wheel Drive with alpina rear Bias and the completely redone with closer ratio gears for 2016 8 speed ZF and the 2016 blows the doors of the M6 (Competition or not) ina 0-60MPH run of a staggering 3.3 seconds.Some reports hit at 3.1. REMEMBER,DESPITE FALSE CLAIMS ON EBAY, THE 2012-15 B6 IS 540HP "NOT" 600THE 2016-2019 ARE THE 2NG GENERATION AND VIRTUALL EVERYTHING WAS IMPROVED INCLUDING THE MUCH STRONGER ENGINE, ZF SPEED SHIFT,AWD, SYS, ETC. ETC. The 2016 BMW 6 series had a major face lift in 2016. The Hood is exclusive to the Alpina and not seen on the old 2015. The Fenders, bumper, spoilers,etc are all new with less grill slats but wider grills. Also the 2012 LED lighting is all new for 2016. Brighter, and more intense with a more streamlined design with a integrated LED fiber optic turn signal on top. The old row of blocky lights under the headlights is now gone. Also Alpina increased brake size and calipers, with exclusive Alpina calipers.New side panels with side turn signal removed now integrated into a fiber optic LED mirror signal The 2016 in Executive guise also has integrated web browsing and the latest 2019 I Drive system with a faster CPU and hard drive.Larger free breathing two stage SS exhaust two stage exhaustThe rims have been expanded by 1/2" allowing 305/30/20's if you wish . Bear in mind most of these come from the snow belt and Northeast due to the AWD. (With the attendant rust and corrosion rotting out the undercarriage) All of these cars from the snow belt were sold with all season tires which blocks top end to 130 MPH. The 200 MPH speed is only for southern dry cars sold with ultra high performance SUMMER tires.As is this car....The 130 limiter cannot be removed without voiding the drive train warranty. And I bring you glad tidings of comfort and joy: This is as grand a machine as its name suggests, both in driving demeanor and in its indisputably good looks.It outperforms the M6 in virtually every catagory,but thanks to the massive engineering staff at Alpina rides slightly better than the standard 650i. The bone pulverizing ride of the M6 (especially the Competition option cars)is a distant painful memory. Enter the MatrixThe Alpina B6 Gran Coupe I drove has a 600-horsepower, twin-turbo V8 engine. It has an intelligent all-wheel drive (i.e., it reads and responds to the road in real time) on an eight-speed automatic transmission that’ll pull to 60 miles per hour in 3.3 seconds. Top speed is 200mph. Doing 100mph on an empty highway by the sea feels as easy as the wind. Or, uh, so I hear. (The M6, by the way, has only rear-wheel drive and a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic or a six-speed manual. It also gets 560hp, 40 less than the Alpina, and has just 502 lb-ft of torque, far less than the B6. The brakes and steering respond as if they’re connected to electrodes in your brain—simply think a command and it’ll happen. The acceleration feels as insistent and unwavering as a bullet train. Smooth doesn’t begin to describe it. There’s simply no resistance, no lull, no apparent inertia or friction in the alternate universe you enter when you slip behind the wheel. Push the gas and feel the car embrace you—at warp speed—into another reality. It has a certain pizazz, to use a word my mother would use, that is unusual for serious German coupes. I was not a fan of the glittery green paint job on the car I was driving—racing green should, in my opinion, be reserved for British-bred cars—but that is easily remedied as there are 18 exterior paint options, of which Alpina Blue is my hands down favorite.And the most popular color in the world for Alpina though very rare for US models.Elsewhere, the four tail pipes, long curved roof, rear spoiler, adaptive LED headlights, and blown-out sport grill retaining those trademark kidneys leave no doubt for anyone as to what they’re dealing with. ALPINA is even written plainly across the front grill. Inside, the myrtle wood trim looks like something you’d find in a Bentley. And the seats, the seats. On my drive I kept checking myself: Was my back tired yet, annoyed, hurting? Nope. The four-way lumbar support, articulated upper backrest, and something special about the head rest placement felt like a vacation. It is silent as a tomb inside the B6. Its 16 Bang & Olufsen surround sound speakers deserve the chance to show off their worth with multiple genres of music. Living in the Sweet SpotThe B6 Alpina Gran Coupe costs $122,150, unless you want extras (duh!) and bespoke options on the wood and leather and stitching and rims and badges, in which case it’ll cost thousands more. Before it gained a power boost, we said in a 2015 First Test that the car accelerates well for its size and takes corners well for a car that’s not going to spend a lot of time lapping a race track. Additionally, the ride quality doesn’t get sacrificed in the name of handling because the B6’s suspension handles road imperfections relatively well and doesn’t get upset too easily.
