The find of the decade! Here's probably your last chance to find a well preserved Southern California all original R129 SL500 in rare Smoke Silver color. This beauty was found just 12 miles south of where I live here in San Diego CA in mansion central of Del Mar CA. It was purchased new at Fletcher-Jones Mercedes Benz in Newport Beach Southern California which is the largest MB dealership in the nation. This SL500 was manufactured in March of 1998 and sold in June of 1998 and has stayed in same family until I bought it 6-25-18. Always garaged and absolutely zero rust anywhere due to the fact that its a SoCal car and properly stored. It passed the strictest emissions test (CA) in the nation with flying colors on 6-25-18. CA registration has just been renewed and doesn't expire till July 2019 and Emission test (SMOG) isn't due for another 2 years. The title is clean and has never been in any accidents. The paint is beautiful with zero blemishes, zero dents, zero scratches, and zero dings. The soft top is stunning as its without a doubt perfect. The plastic windows show no signs of aging. Looks band new. Just remarkable. Again.... NO RUST ANYWHERE. Its amazing but I didn't need to anything after buying it. I decided since I was going to sell it I'd put a new set of Uniroyal Tiger Paws on for new buyer. These tires manufactured in 2017 and installed at 43,394 miles on 7/5/18. Yes there's less than 200 miles on them! This beauty runs and drives like a brand new car. Everything works including electric antenna, CD player, Conv top, wipers, AC blows ice cold, Bose Stereo booms, cassette player works cuz I checked it with one of my own. Cruise control works and the auto windows roll up and down fast. I give the interior a 10 and the exterior a another 10. I get constant thumbs up on the road and stop lights. I get gents that are huge R129 fans coming up to me with many compliments on how well taken care of it is. The Hagerty valuation team puts the R129 as one of the most collectible cars in the near future, especially the 1996 to 1998 as its the last years to have the DOHC engine which has 315 HP and new 5 speed auto trans. They consider it one of the last "real" Mercedes, strong parts support from factory and safest roof-down motoring available in a vintage vehicle. Their only CON is that the search may be long for the right one. In 1999 Mercedes decided to work towards better fuel economy and lowered engine power and performance. All maintenance paperwork, 2 like new factory carpet floor mats, 2 original keys, top of the line car cover, and owners manual included. The common issue of leaking convertible soft top was fixed for $900 on 10/9/2015 where they replaced all the hydraulic rams at both pillars. I've tried to describe it as accurately and honestly as possible but remember it is a used vehicle. As with any used vehicle there may be issues I have overlooked or unaware of.
