TOTALLY RUST FREE CALIFORNIA TRANS AM. Greetings! Here for your consideration is TOTALLY COMPLETE, ALL ORIGINAL RUST FREE 1979 TRANS AM. This car has been in storage for the past 10 years (barn find?). It was purchased brand new in Stockton California - and has remained there until I purchased it from the original owner’s family and moved it to Modesto - 20 minutes South. I had great plans for a full frame off restoration when I found this car. (who doesn’t?). However, reality sets in...(sigh). Bills and responsibilities demand more immediate attention. I guess it would be prudent for me to let this car go and pay my bills. It would be better see this car go to someone who wants a TOTALLY RUST FREE - ALL ORIGINAL Trans Am to restore rather that let it just sit around for another 10 years. This car is a FANTASTIC SOLID FOUNDATION to build on! Although the Blazing Hot California sun has not done the paint or interior any favors - it has PRESERVED the structure of this car AMAZINGLY WELL - making it a HIGHLY sought after TOTALLY RUST FREE CALIFORNIA CAR. (Bragging rights?) This car is ALL ORIGINAL and UNMODIFIED. The car still has its Factory ORIGINAL Rochester Carburetor, 17059553. ORIGINAL 6.6 Ltr V-8 (403) Engine, Transmission and Rear end. I even re-intalled its original GOODYEAR POLYSTEEL RADIALS which had been removed and put away. NOTE: If you look at other Trans Am ads - you’ll find that Polysteels are usually found ONLY on the most expensive original cars or are show quality restorations. They are EXTREMELY hard to find. MOST of the Trans Ams for sale seem to have the typical B.F. Goodrich T/A Radials. T/A Radials are NOT CORRECT as original equipment tires. '79 Trans Ams originally came with UNIROYALS or POLYSTEELS. COLOR COMBINATION: This car was truly beautiful in its day. It was originally dark NOCTURN BLUE with a Deluxe Light Blue Velour Hobnail interior, Original paint exists under a “Protective Coating” of rattle can primer. This car originally featured gold Hood Bird and gold decals. (I was planning to switch to the Blue Bird and decals to better match the interior)... just sayin’. (I‘ve attached a few pictures at the end of this ad that show other restored cars featuring this same color combination - just to show you how this car will look when it’s finished.) MECHANICALS: No, we have not attempted to get the car running. I was planning to start disassembling it for restoration; so trying to get it running seemed pointless. The family lost the keys a long time ago. Engine is the ORIGINAL 6.6 Ltr 403 V8. Family indicates the motor has never been out of the car. I did not want to disassemble the front of the motor just to find the numbers. Knowing the history of the car - I have NO DOUBTS that the motor is the original. Heck, the darn thing still has its original carburetor! The car remains as we found it when it was removed from storage. Only exception is that we re-mounted the original Goodyear Polysteel Radials back onto the snowflake rims (couldn’t resist). I was told by the original owner’s surviving son that the Rear-End went bad - and the car was then put into storage 10 years ago. There is no water in the engine oil - and no oil in the radiator water. Needless to say - you can plan on all mechanicals needing restored - but NOTHING major is missing aside from an air intake hose etc....and the darn keys. Underneath the car is dusty and dirty (for sure) but NOT CORRODED and NOT RUSTED. It’s truly a great thing to actually SEE the bolts AND the THREADS! - and NOT be looking at the wreck of the Titanic under there! Rusticles? Not on THIS car!! The VALUE, APPRECIATION and DEMAND for Trans Ams has been SKYROCKETING over recent years, Who would EVER think you’d see a 79 Trans Am for $60,000?! Crazy, but they’re out there - and growing in numbers! This TRANS AM is a FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY for you to snag a SOLID CALIFORNIA RUST FREE TRANS AM INVESTMENT before the price of these cars becomes out of reach. I have a clear California Pink Slip - in my name - ready to sign off. Features: AO1 - Tinted Glass L80 - Factory Original 6.6 V-8 Engine (403 cu. in.) Thank you for viewing this auction and considering the purchase of this wonderful Trans AM. On Aug-13-18 at 08:23:51 PDT, seller added the following information: Greetings - I've received more than a few emails from folks concerning my "Options List". Folks with a keen eye and a whole lot more knowledge than me have reported that my Options List is waaaay outta whack! I must apologize! I am by nooooo means a Trans Am expert! I copied a hand-written list that was found in the glove box. I assumed that it was correct - so I mindlessly retyped it into my ad. Boy - what a mistake THAT was! Again my apologies. As one gentleman pointed out the M33 is a 350 automatic transmission (which is correct) but the list called it a 400. Another person called out the gear ratios. etc etc. All I can say from this point forward is what I know - the car was purchased from the original owner's family. It's been sitting for 10 years and has never been apart. The one item I personally checked out (cause it was readily accessible) was the carburetor. Definitely the original that is supposed to be there. The Polysteels are a RARE find. (Wouldn't want to drive on them - but I'd keep them only to install and show only at car shows) Aside from that - the pictures speak for themselves. Sorry for the confusion! Hope this answers most of your questions. On Aug-14-18 at 14:28:21 PDT, seller added the following information: Greetings All! Thanks to all of the 2,454 people that have viewed this auction thusfar. I appreciate your comments and inquires. I also appreciate many of your wonderful offers to take part trades and cash. Although I appreciate the many good offers, I'm looking to sell this car outright and I cannot accept another vehicle as trade or part trade.Thank you for understanding. On Aug-15-18 at 13:26:50 PDT, seller added the following information: Greetings All! Thank you for viewing my auction (2778 views plus 101 watchers) and considering this CA Trans Am for purchase. To answer some of the most recent questions, The Polysteel Radials have probably more than 50% tread remaining. However, because of their age, (nearly 40 years) I would not recommend driving around on them as a daily or long distance practice. I myself planned on acquiring a second set of snowflake rims and installing regular good ole T/As on the extra set for daily use. Planned on restoring the original rims and using the Polysteels for 'show purposes' only; at local car shows etc. Also, folks have commented about the interior. Sorry, but the interior will not clean up and be usable. It's a gonner. Also, someone noticed that the passenger seat back as sitting at an angle. He's correct! Someone in the past removed the hinge-bolt on the seat-back nearest the console. Consequently the seat back doesn't align properly without the bolt holding it in place. Sorry for not mentioning that. No intent to deceive. DIdn't seem like a big deal. Haven't had a chance to look for the bolt. Lastly, an observant gentleman commented about the lack of driver's side photos of the car. Good eye! He was concerned that the lack of photos might indicate possible damage to that side of the car. Again, my apologies. I hadn't noticed - but he's right! My wife's car was parked close to that side when I took the photos. They were in shadow and I didn't really like them and didn't use them. No worries about the driver's side - The car is VERY STRAIGHT, RUST FREE and has NO ACCIDENT DAMAGE. If you'd like to see - I can send you photos of the driver's side. I'm maxed out on the number of photos I can place on this auction, so you'll need to ask, and I'll send them to you. Lastly, A few folks were asking about the doors. The doors on this car open smoothly with virtually no sagging. Very very little anyway. Oftentimes the doors on these cars can sag several inches when you open them. NOT on this car! I wouldn't touch these doors. If its not broke - don't fix it. Hope this info helps! Best Regards!
