Vehicle Detail
1991 Mercedes-Benz 560SEL Saloon – VIN WDBCA39E2MA572762 For your consideration is my 1991 126-chassis Mercedes-Benz 560SELSedan – the top pf the line sedan in Mercedes' 1991 vehicle lineup. Wearing just over 107,000 miles (about 4,000/year average), we purchased this car for a cross country road trip (Kansas to Washington, D.C and lots of points in between) last summer, to enjoy the cruise and to document the journey for Mercedes Enthusiast magazine. We have used it sparingly since, but recently it developed a transmission issue that I am not equipped to deal with personally - it started out with 4th gear slipping and after a full transmission service it now lacks both 3rd and 4th gears under most driving conditions. It is otherwise a terrific runner that has had fairly recent air conditioning rehab, a new alternator, recent tires, and a fair amount invested in the rear self-leveling suspension system including new spheres and a new leveling valve. I have 2 factory master keys and original books, as well as a handful of recent service records. While not a perfect car, this car runs very nicely and made for a very pleasant companion for a long distance road trip. On the inside, this car is in decent original condition. The grey feintuft velour carpet is in good condition with a little bleaching under the left rear floor mat. The car comes with factory carpeted floormats. The power leather seats work properly (front and rear) and the dash is crack free. The wood is good, although the lower console panel could stand to be refinished. The headliner is nice and there are no foul odors – there doesn’t appear to have ever been any smoking or leaks inside. The air conditioning, power windows, sunroof, and power locks all work properly. Outside, the car is straight although the paint photographs better than it is. The car appears to have had some paintwork on the left rear door at some point and there are a few small rust bubbles but nothing approaching major rot. The doors, hood, and trunk all shut with the appropriate thunk. All of the lenses are in very good condition (just replaced the headlight surrounds after I took some of the pictures!). The alloy wheels are OEM 15" alloys with matching Bridgestone Insignia all-season performance tires. There is a spare tire in the trunk along with a complete tool kit and jack. Glass is all original and crack-free. The motor starts easily and settles to a very smooth idle. The power steering functions properly, and the brakes are in good condition and do not pull. Until the recent transmission issue, the car pulled like a freight train and achieves super-legal speeds in the blink of an eye. A lot of money has been invested in this car, and now it's time for someone to take it and make it great again. We loved this car, but since we don't need it I can't justify keeping and fixing it. My loss will definitely be your gain! Please keep in mind that this is not a new vehicle and that it is sold as-is, where-is with no warrantees implied, stated, or otherwise intended. You are bidding to own this vehicle, not to come and look at it after the auction has ended. Remember, my descriptions are based on my knowledge of the car. I cannot say that it is without flaws. I don't care what classic car you are looking at, it will have flaws. A non-refundable deposit of $250 must be sent by PayPal within 24 hours of the conclusion of the auction. The balance must be paid within seven days of the end of the auction or upon pick-up of the car, whichever is earlier. I will accept cash, PayPal, bank wire transfer, or cashier's check only. Purchaser is responsible for pick-up or all costs related to the shipping of the car. PLEASE BE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN THAT YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT YOUR BID. IF YOU HAVE ZERO OR NEGATIVE FEEDBACK, YOU MUST CONTACT ME THROUGH EBAY PRIOR TO BIDDING. I WILL CANCEL YOUR BID IF YOU DO NOT. DO NOT BID ON THE CAR UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO PURCHASE IT AS YOU ARE ENTERING INTO A BINDING AGREEMENT. IF YOU FAIL TO COME AND SEE THE CAR OR HAVE IT INSPECTED BY YOUR AGENT, I WILL NOT ENTERTAIN YOU CANCELLING THE SALE FOR ANY REASON ONCE THE AUCTION HAS ENDED. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THIS AUCTION EARLY. I WILL ENTERTAIN SERIOUS OFFERS TO END THE AUCTION EARLY. I WILL ALSO ASSIST PURCHASER IN ARRANGING SHIPPING TO ANY PLACE IN THE WORLD AT THE PURCHASER'S EXPENSE. Thank you for looking! On Aug-04-18 at 06:35:55 PDT, seller added the following information: It has been pointed out to me that the CarFax says that the title states unknown mileage. The discrepancy is noted between an actual reading of 30,975 miles in 2001 and 32,080 miles in 2003. There is no indication of rollback, and the miles have progressed since. I had forgotten when I listed the car, as the mileage progression and condition of the car supported the current mileage as shown. I do not have any details as to why it was once marked as such, and can only say that the odometer works properly and the condition of the vehicle is very much as described in the listing and documented in the photos. I apologize to bidders for this oversight.
