Vehicle Detail

Clear Virginia Title. This Woodie was built in the 1970's as a 2 door Surf Woodie for display in a restaurant. The engine was rebuilt at that time but run very little. It sold in about 2011, passed into storage in an OH garage where I purchased it in 2014. It has new floorboards in correct black with black undercoating on the bottom surfaces, a great looking frame in Model A black, powder coated wheels, 5 new tires and tubes, re-cored radiator, new chrome radiator shell, leakless water pump, 6 volt alternator, 6 volt Optima battery, rebuilt starter, new wiring harnesses, new spark plugs and ignition, new steering wheel, rebuilt speedo, working instruments in a new bezel, newly recovered seat upholstery using new rear seat spring set and rebuilt front seat springs. The wooden body was in rough shape when I bought her. I used factory spec hard maple for the frame pieces and birch plywood to replace all the side panels and doors. The 1931 engine starts and runs but is tight from not being run after the 1970's overhaul. It does not leak, has no known block cracks. The 3 speed trans works. There is a clutch judder on starting out which is probably due to sitting for years on display. The rear end is good, the wheels do need 4 studs replaced (included but not installed). Steering works, though a bit stiff. We drive it around the airport for exercise. We have put about 80 miles on her, loosening up the engine on the advice of our local Model A restorer. The mechanical brakes work well and have plenty of lining on the brake shoes. The brake drums are in very good shape, the bearings have been recently repacked. There is a new brake light switch to be installed. All period correct lights, lenses and brackets are with the project and include new wiring harnesses but the lights are not hooked up yet. Included are many new replacement parts from Snyders, Brattons, other sources, which are spares or have not been installed. Also, several 1928 and 1929 21" wire wheels, some with tires, some not. Engine spare parts include 2 blocks of unknown condition, crankshafts, oil pans, carb cores, water pump parts, cam shafts, pistons, two 1930-31 Model A heads, uninstalled wiring harnesses, a black 1929 Commercial radiator shell, 4 rebuildable shocks, fluid and links, a 1929 windshield visor and a 1930's visor, black Commercial front bumper, rear bumper parts. Full disclosure: This is an ongoing project with good, solid bones for someone looking for a Surf Woodie that can be finished into a daily driver with not too much effort. Some wood work is needed, final fitment is needed. Some mechanical work is needed to make it completely roadworthy. Or it can be fully restored and used for advertising, parades, promotions. It is being sold as is, where is. Please only bid if you intend to complete the auction. This auction is relisted with answers to several eBayer's questions and now has a lowered opening bid price. This Ford Woodie is a solid project which has had a lot of work completed, includes over $2000 in NOS, used and reproduction parts either installed or ready for installation and includes a large number of spare engine parts, wheels, tires and chassis parts. Also several Model A specific tools for pulling drums, installing wheel studs, etc. Buyer's responsibilities: Ask questions before auction ends. Buyer must pick up in Virginia, Shenandoah Valley, easy access to Interstate 81. Bring a trailer. The extra engine blocks, heads, body parts, wheels should all fit in a pick up bed. I can assist with loading. A $500 PayPal deposit is required within 48 hours of the end of the auction. The remaining balance must be paid in full within 7 days of the close of the auction by Cashiers Check or Cash.
