Vehicle Detail

19Lincoln 56 Cadillac selling at "No Reserve" on a quick 5-day auction. Just like a Bat Mobile or similar to the Lincoln from the Old Animal House Movie I think rare would be an understatement when it comes to finding a classic finned Cadillac from the 1950's in decent condition selling at "No Reserve" If you're going to spend the time and money to restore one classic car in your lifetime make sure it's something rare that you would love to have or this could be a great car for some hard to find parts that you may need for a Cadillac that you currently own. If you simply double click on the main picture of the auction page then all 24 pictures will be able to be viewed in the larger size by clicking the arrows on each side of the larger pictures. I will explain everything I found out from the previous owner at the point of purchase. According to the prior owner of this sweet 1956 Cadillac was truly a barn find that a buddy of his had started to make into a Rat Rod but lost interest. Nevertheless some Cadillac enthusiast could certainly use a good running 50's Cadillac motor for that project they have going. The transmission fluid looked pink and the car shifted nicely over to take the pictures. The reverse gear works very well and is all the way down with the gear shift lever on these cars. The gear shifter reads P N D Lo R. Remember a car only comes original once!! This Cadillac appeared to have the original Black paint from 62 years ago. I have no idea about these 50's Cadillac's, but this one is believed to be a Fleetwood. I did own a 1958 Pink Cadillac several years back that Elvis Presley had purchased for one of his celebrity friends. I had no title on that car, but I had a battle from all over the world to buy that Cadillac. It was a toss up between a gentleman from England and another gentleman from Australia who really wanted that car the most. The very nice gentleman from England ended up being the one who made the purchase. These older Caddy's in running and driving condition are becoming extremely hard to find. I saw no signs of this land yacht every being involved in any collisions. The Black paint was just faded and showing the spots where the prior previous owner had done some welding, so the entire body was coated with Rustoleum 2X coverage Flat Black Primer. The body looks extremely straight and I believe all of the expensive stainless steel and trim parts that are shown on the car are all intact. Anyone who knows these cars can clearly see what is missing. The body was simply coated with some that black primer to protect the body. This mammoth really needs a new owner who knows the value or someone passionate about classic cars to bring this rare gem back to its former glory. Quite possibly someone just wants to have a new lawn ornament. A select amount of these parts can be found in brand new reproduction from a wide variety of classic car parts suppliers who specialize in Cadillac's around the United States, but some parts are very hard to come across. You simply need to own a body to install those antique parts and the knowledge of the restoration process. I am selling this Classic Cadillac as needing a complete restoration, but I believe it has all the basics needed to make something sweet. This auction is just in time to buy that 1956 Cadillac that you have been needing for parts, or if you wanted to have a cool old antique to restore. I have too many projects right now to dedicate the necessary time this Classic Cadillac deserves. I was told that the 365 Cadillac engine is the original engine that came with the car brand new. It has been freshly tuned up with a new distributor car, rotor, points, and spark plug wires in 2014. At that time new dual exhaust with some thrush type mufflers and new tail pipes were installed as well. I was told all the brakes were done at that time too, so this Land Cruiser does stop well. I only drove it about a mile round trip to take the pictures shown in the auction, but the engine sounds strong and the speedometer works as it should. The prior owner told me that this car had never been in any accidents and I believe him. I scrutinized this entire car and saw no signs of it ever being hit, and believe all of the body panels to be original to this car. The odometer is believed to be original at just over 17,000 miles, but the odometer is to be assumed to have rolled over. The body is very solid from being in storage for decades prior to when I made the purchase. From everywhere I looked the frame appears to be in good condition. The floors all look original. The back floors looked very good, the passenger front also looked good. The drivers side could use a small patch. I thought all in all the frame, floors, and trunk are all in good condition for a car over half a century old. It will need new carpeting, but there is a pair of new vinyl floor mats on the front floors. This would be a terrific candidate for making that finned showpiece couch for someone's man cave or the family great room. Naturally I'm a car guy, so that would be sacrilegious, but I've seen couches made out of the '56 to '64 models and they do look sweet. The last owner did say that this number's matching original engine last ran in 2014. After I made the purchase I just used some starting fluid and added new gas and she fired right up. No smoking or ticking! It was very rare to have one of these cars ordered with all of these options back then. The options include power steering, power brakes, the original Wonderbar AM radio, the Autromic Eye, power windows, power bench seat, and the list goes on. The leather bench seat appears to have come out of a newer 70's or 80's style Cadillac. I think a true Classic Cadillac guy can see all of the options this one has by the pictures. Three of the power windows worked from the switch on the drivers door, but I haven't gone through any of the mechanicals to see what works and what doesn't. The dash light does work above the AM radio. I do have what looks like the original ignition and trunk keys. On a side note I would like to mention about how gas was pumped into these old finned Cadillac's. The left drivers side tail light has a spring loaded mechanism that pops up to expose the gas tank. The people who did not know these cars sure had a hard time figuring out how to fill them up. This Caddy had that gas filling option deleted and has the gas filling done directly through a nicely mounted plastic gas tank mounted inside the trunk compartment. Why not make your money work for you while you enjoy yourself. This car does come with a clean and clear Wisconsin title. Many of these cars had the title disappear over the years, but this old 1956 Caddy can actually be titled. The Nada Classic Car Price Guide that anyone can look up on-line has the 1956 Cadillac Fleetwood 75 with the 365/305 horsepower V8 engine valued at $34,320 in high condition, which they consider an excellent overall vehicle that was completely restored, or an original vehicle showing very minimal wear. Note: This value does not represent a 100 point show car or a #1 vehicle. Those vehicles can reach much higher prices. They have the average condition valued at $21,560, which they consider in good overall condition that could be an older restoration or a well maintained original vehicle that is completely operable. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. They say an average condition car is considered a 20-Footer! Nada has the lowest condition value at $11,605 being considered a deteriorated restoration or a very poor restoration, but mostly usable "As-Is!" The lowest value does not represent a parts car, but would be considered as the price for a car needing a complete restoration. That being said the numbers don't lie! This Black Cadillac is a very valuable classic automobile if it is restored properly. For whatever this Classic Caddy sells for on Sunday night I believe the winner will have gotten a bargain! These super rare Cadillac's have consistently shown to escalate in value with each quarter. What you see is exactly what you get! I tried to describe all of the pertinent information, so any potential bidder can make the most informed decision possible before placing their bid. If there is anything else you feel that may have been missed, please ask any questions you like. They will all be answered in a timely fashion. This Cool Classic Caddy is being offered at "No Reserve" on a quick 5-day auction ending Sunday evening at 8:00pm Eastern time, 7:00pm Central time, and 5:00pm Pacific time. The PayPal deposit is to be paid within 24 hours, and the balance wire transferred within 72 hours. This is a prime opportunity to pick up a true American Antique Iconic Classic. There will be endless compliments coming to whoever is the lucky winner of this Behemoth Cadillac or they may just be mistaken for Bat Man or John Belushi. Thank You for taking the time to view my auction! Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!
