Vehicle Detail
Hello all, A link to more photos: 1965 Ford Econoline I am looking for a good home for my Econoline. I have owned it since 1992 and did quite a bit of work on it throughout the years. I don't really want to sell it but I am wanting to downsize my life. Looking to get what I can for the van of course. I have had this van since 1993 and it has always been taken care of and garaged. I can not stop for fuel without being approached by somebody that loves the way it looks. No Rust or rust history other than the van only had primer on it when I bought it in 93 so there was minimal surface rust on the body mainly the roof. There is 1 spot with 2 pencil eraser size or smaller holes located near the rear passenger door (not visible from the outside and has been halted). There are some small blisters in the paint on the side doors near the bottom which appeared some time after it was painted. There was a roof vent in the van @ 1 point (was patched before I got it and the repair is UN-noticeable from the exterior. The front bumper is slightly twisted. No major in my opinion because it does not have any kinks in it. I rebuilt the original 170 motor when I got it. Honed cylinders, new rings, lapped valves, new crankshaft kit, bearings and seals all around. I replaced the radiator with a new one that was meant for a Ford Maverick, It fits perfect, I just needed to drill some holes in the mounting flange of the radiator because the Maverick mounted on the back of the mounting bracket and the Econoline on the front. All electrical wiring is original however due to the age of the harness minor repairs had to be done @ some connection points. Replaced Starter Solenoid, Rectifier and Hi/Lo Headlight switch within the last 2 years. All lights (Original), horn (Original), windshield wipers(Original), Antenna (Original) work. Heater core does not leak however I believe the switch for the fan is not original. Fuel, ammeter, oil, Temp gauge and speedometer work but not certain of the accuracy (Fuel gauge not accurate and speedometer bounces at certain speeds (I have the original and it does the same thing, I lubed the cable and it is better but not perfect.) I replaced all the brake cylinders about a year ago and rebuilt the Master. The lines could be changed as they are original but don't leak. The van has a Draw tite hitch and the electrical connector with a electrical brake as well. The van had a 200 in it when I bought it but the 170 was in the back and that is the engine I re-built and it is the original engine according to the previous owner. Emergency brake works great. All door locks work, The van is registered in WA as a "Collector" . No accidents, Clean Title in hand. It has been stored in my garage since 1998 and was under a carport since I bought it in 1993. it was painted in 1995. I have all the receipts for the work done to it and have an original Service (Shop Manual) to boot. It is not perfect but you would be hard pressed to find one in any better shape and all original less the wheels, seats and exterior mirrors. I do have 1 original wheel and 3 hubcaps. Many spare parts salvaged from local bone yards, Oil pump, water pump, fuel pump, Distributor (look @ those on ebay), windows, 1 rear door, door handles and associated hardware, Instrument cluster etc. I also got and additional (Ball cooler, Crotch Cooler) for the passenger side of the van to keep the goods cool and fresh on those hot trips! Odds and ends...Original floor mat, The dashboard was cut for a radio, Seat Belts installed in original holes, No original Air Cleaner, Did Carb rebuild...made a noticeable difference, All belts and hoses were replaced during rebuild, Windshield drips...had the gasket replaced during paint but still dripped, took it back in to rectify but still drips but less???? VIN Plate was removed for painting and never put back on but I have it. I am sure there is more I could say. Any more questions???
