Up for auction is a beautiful 1988 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe with 52,000 original miles. The car is canyon red with a scarlet red cloth interior. The options include the following: 2.3 liter turbo charged 4 cylinder engine (with 150 HP and 200 LB-FT torque), 4 speed automatic with overdrive, air conditioning, power moon roof, power drivers seat, power locks, cruise control, tilt steering wheel and an after market AM/FM stereo with CD player and an MP3. If I were to judge the vehicle at a car show, I would rate the exterior a 7 out of 10 and the interior an 8 out of 10. The car has no rust and the paint has a really nice shine to it with no oxidation. There are chips and scratches on the paint that keeps the exterior rating from being a perfect 10. The carpets and upholstery are very clean with no rips, tears or burn holes. The top of the dash board has no cracks, and the head liner in in excellent condition. The bottom portions of the arm rests on both the driver and passenger doors have come unglued and back seat head rests have sun fading (the rest of the interior is not sun faded) which keep the interior rating from being a perfect 10. Overall, the car is not perfect, however, it is in great shape for a 1988. There is a check engine light that is on, however, the engine starts up on the first try and the engine idles smoothly. The transmission shifts smooth. According to the turbo boost gauge, the turbo makes about 9 lbs of boost which is typical for the automatic versions of the turbo coupe. Overall, the car drives like what is expected from a car with 52,000 miles on it. New front brakes and new tires were installed at 49,000 miles. New (non adjustable) KYB struts and shocks have been installed at 50,000 miles. This means that there is no more programmed ride control.
