Up for auction with no reserve is my 1996 SL500 with 97,300 miles. I bought the car in July of 2006 from the second owner with 64,164 miles. It has never seen snow, rarely seen rain, and has not to my knowledge had any accidents. It comes with its matching OEM hardtop and four additional M-B five-star wheels. The prior owner replaced the rear window on the soft top after puncturing it with a badly placed broom handle (ouch!). The car was always kept in heated indoor storage facility on a battery tender from November to May each year. Since I’ve owned the car I’ve done the following in terms of repairs and maintenance: • New tires (twice) – currently the car has Michelin Pilots with a good amount of tread remaining• Removed the OEM CD player and replaced it with an iPod interface kit (the OEM CD player comes with the car - the actual iPod shown in the picture does not)• Replaced the headlamp bulbs with new H4 bulbs at 72,000 miles• Installed a new OEM M-B battery at 86,000 miles• Replaced the front turn signal reflectors at 86,300 miles• Replaced the entire air conditioning system (a $3,100 expense) at 89,525 miles and it blows cold!• Replaced the front suspension at 93,400 miles • Replaced the serpentine engine belt at 93,400 miles• Replaced all four brake pads and rotors at 93,400 miles• Replaced a broken driver’s door check hinge at 94,800 miles• Normal oil changes and other routine maintenance performed each year Everything on the car works as intended with the exception of the headlight washers which the prior owner disconnected. The soft top is in excellent condition, there are no issues with the seat belt retractors as some SLs have experienced. There a couple of small dings on the air dam, a small scrape on the left rear splash guard (see pics) and the under-hood pad should be replaced. The car comes with four additional OEM M-B five star wheels, a custom car cover, black coco floor mats, the OEM folding windscreen that stores in the trunk, a hardtop sling that was used with a winch to store the hardtop in summer, two folding keys, the wallet key, a regular key, front license plate bracket, owner’s manuals, OEM tool kit, the OEM radio code and all receipts from my ownership. The only reason I’m selling is that I’ve lost my winter storage facility and our condo only has a two-car garage. Feel free to ask any questions.
