Vehicle Detail
It is with a heavy heart that I am listing my 2000 Honda Insight with no reserve to the highest bidder. I purchased this car in 2010 with 102K miles. Within a couple of weeks of purchase, the IMA battery went bad, but I lucked out and had it replaced under warranty by Honda. I have driven this car up until about two years ago, putting around another 66K miles on it, averaging a little over 50mpg, when the hybrid system started to flake on me. I had every intention to fix it because I love this car, but I have just become too lazy to do the work, and no one around here knows enough about these cars to fix them properly, including the Honda dealer. For example, I had an issue about three years ago where the dealer misdiagnosed a problem that would have set me back a thousand dollars and not fix the problem, but with the help of the internet (thank you insightcentral.net) I correctly diagnosed the problem, but it involved about two days work taking the car apart to get to the IMA battery to replace a fuse that was inconveniently located underneath it. So, about two years ago the IMA system started flaking. It is showing codes P1568, P1449, and P0420, which indicate the IMA battery is going bad. Right now it is running fine, except for the "check engine" light, but sooner or later (probably sooner) it will start flaking again. It's finally time to admit I just don't have the time or energy to fix it. I hope someone else will love it like I have, but chances are this will involve some significant expense with the IMA system. It's in decent condition, with a few flaws. It's a little dirty, and has a slight mildew smell from being in my garage. The rear hatch release does not work, it will need to be fixed as well. At one point a few years back I was run into by a baby deer, and replaced the passenger side door with one from a junkyard, however my body guy popped the dent out of the door, and it has very little damage, just no mirror, the deer knocked it out. There is very slight damage to the passenger rear panel just behind the door also caused by the deer. It's hard to see from the photo that has the gas door in it. You can see the slight paint scratch. I purchased brand new tires right before I stopped driving it. They have exactly 1584 miles on them. They're the OEM Bridgestone Potenza. This car also comes with a grid charger I purchased from hybridautomotive.com. Please ask any questions, I will try to get back to you asap. Thanks for checking out my listing! On Apr-03-18 at 19:12:35 PDT, seller added the following information: Reading the listing, I realize I was not clear in describing the passenger door scenario. An undamaged replacement door from the junkyard is on the car. However, the key does not work on it because of this. I also have the original door with the dent popped out. It has very little damage, just doesn't have a mirror. The winning bidder is welcome to take possession of the extra door if desired.
