Vehicle Detail
For Sale - AS-IS - 2003 RAV4 EV Electric Vehicle, 105,650 miles, white exterior, grey interior. Normal wear and tear with minor door dings. Was in a minor rear-ender that slightly dented the rear door - was repaired and looks and works like new, just missing the big EV sticker. Rear bumper has had its share of bumps and the left rear turn indicator lens is cracked (not from the accident). Interior is clean, no rips or tears or significant stains. The floor mat on the driver’s side has worn through under the accelerator pedal. (See pictures.) The traction battery is end-of-life. The turtle beeps under all but the lightest acceleration. Top speed is about 45 MPH when it’s fully charged, 35 MPH when the pack is down. Acceleration is leisurely. Range is probably 30 miles, farther if driving slowly. Makes a good neighborhood vehicle, but a bit stressful on the major roads in traffic due to the slow acceleration. Aux battery is good but 3+ years old. The tires are end of life. The charge capacitor has been replaced. The car comes with a MagneCharger and a Toyota repair manual, and a 2-inch receiver tow hitch and receiver ball. The charger has been portablized on a wheeled pallet with folding pushbar and 14-50 connector. (See pictures.) The paddle handle is broken from backing out the car without unplugging. The paddle works fine. Shame because this happened about a week after replacing the paddle with a brand new one, about a year ago. The car does not charge consistently nor completely. The charger stops charging at about 3/4 charge according to the SOC indicator, yet shows ‘full’ on the charger with all green LEDs lit. Re-seating the charge paddle and starting the charge over again makes the LEDs show half, but after about a minute or two the charger will show full with all LEDs lit again and the charge will stop. Occasionally the charger will stop charging with the red error light. According to the RAV4EV email list, this appears to be due to either the bad battery pack or high leakage current due to the battery pack never having been cleaned. The car charges consistently during dry and cold weather. During moist weather the car often errors out when charging.
