1988 Honda CR

This 1988 CR250R was purchased new by Bill Hacket Jr on July 7 1989. I was fortunate enough to meet Bill just this week and purchase his beloved CR. As we know most of these bikes were taken right to the motocross tracks and ridden into the ground. Bill had a different plan for his CR which he bought to trail ride with his friends and did so throughout the 90s and early 2000s. As Bill’s family grew the bike was ridden less and less and then not really at all. Bill set up the bike for trail/enduro rides with an auxiliary handlebar mounted fuel tank, new handlebars and a (non operational) headlight and tool kit that mounts very nicely behind the headlight shroud. He performed the routine maintenance and always kept it clean which is why it looks as it does nearly 30 years later. Over the last number of years Bill wasn’t able to take it riding but made it a point to start and ride it around his neighborhood a few times to keep things moving. Coolant and oil are both clean, It runs well, makes great power, and doesn’t leak a drop of anything. The suspension works as it should and doesn’t leak/seap, the brakes work well, and the rims spin straight. All in all a very well preserved vintage dirtbike that would be at home in the trails, vintage motocross events, or in your mancave/garage.
