OFFERING at NO RESERVE: 1988 JEEP WRANGLER YJ Please read description completely and fully understand all requirements and payment methods before bidding I will keep it short and simple but at the same time do my best to give all the details Engine: 2.5 fuel injected 4 cylinder. runs great, uses no oil between changes and no smoke. transmission: 5 speed manual shifts nicely threw all gears. 4x4 works as it should recent u joint clutch kit was replaced last February included: clutch slave cylinder, clutch disc and pressure plate. at the same time we did the clutch master cylinder and the steel hydraulic line...ever since that time the slave has had a chatter, and a slight leak. hasn't got any worse but hasn't got any better either. clutch was not replaced due to being worn out just that the original slave had failed. does not effect the driving. top: in 2013 I replaced the torn gray top with a black one. I also replaced the upper doors with black ones. Heat works good and NO ITS NOT COLD IN THE WINTER WITH THE SOFT TOP. interior: seats both have rips but still usable, I have been using them like this since 2012. Body/Frame: the frame is in good shape, I had the right side rear shackle area proffesionally repaired back in 2013. the rest is in decent shape not all rotted out like a lot of other jeeps I have seen. I replaced the drivers side floor pan(see photos) passenger side was OK. the rest of the body is in pretty good shape aside from a wrinkle on the left rear, but I got it like that could easily be hidden with a body armor kit. Tires/suspension: In 2012 I put on a used set of 31 inch tires, they have no funny wear patterns or anything and still have decent tread. newer tie rod and ends. jeep goes down the road nice and straight. newer steering box coupler. Exhaust: newer tail pipe and cherry bomb muffler but mid section is flex pipe. all lights work except the HIGH beams . this is due to it needing a new dimmer switch. then they will work again. wipers work fine. parking brake does not hold. Brakes: brakes work but are a bit too spongy to me, I have been driving this since 2012 and have not had to replace the brakes yet, so that's probably something that it could use in the near future. probably get a much better pedal at that point. This is a jeep that would be good for a father /son project or anyone that is looking for a relatively simple vehicle to restore. this is a pretty basic Jeep that even a novice could take apart in the garage and successfully put back together. all parts are readily availably and fairly cheap to buy. between NOS used and the aftermarket its all out there Please be aware this is an old school 88 jeep. it is not a 98 or even a 2008 so don't expect to see one when you get here. It is a fun cheap to run vehicle that's a blast to bomb around in with no top in the summer. makes a great little fishing/hunting vehicle as well. I am not selling this because I want to but because of a loss of employment forcing me to relocate and I am not able to take everything with me. This is driven locally almost daily by me now but should really get the attention to the items mentioned and it will make some one a nice little jeep. I have never taken it "off road" nor were there any signs that the previous owner did either but I cant verify that.
