Vehicle Detail

1968 Corvette 427 390HP- Numbers matching- Documented back to 1973. This car is a 4-speed convertible that was painted white pre-1973 for reasons not known to me. The car was born with a Silverstone Silver paint job. In 1980 the second owner pulled out and sold the original 427 and replaced it with a 283 which is still in the car to this day. It was done because the car was driven by mans wife and the 427 was evidentially not something she found very easy to drive. In 1983 the soon to be third owner purchased the motor (427), which was pulled from a Chevelle and upon realizing it was a Corvette motor begun seeking out the Corvette that matched his motor. Because the Corvette stayed in the local community it wasn’t hard to track down. Fortunate for him the couple that owned the car was going through a divorce at this time. The wife ended up with the car in the divorce and the in 1986 the third owner purchased the Corvette from her. The motor and the car where back together again. During my time of ownership I repainted the ralley rims and put new tires on them. I also put a new interior in, except for the door panels. I also have redone the brake system from the master cylinder to the calipers with all new lines. The original parts were sent out and professionally rebuilt. The car runs and drives nicely. The car was built on March 18th 1968. Block code G 8 #’s 3916321. Engine codes are TO306IL and 18S414050 for a L36 390HP. Rear Axle is FA 3.70:1 Heavy Duty 427. Muncie 4- speed P8H14. Heads are both 3917215 dated B28 and L287. Intake is 3919849. Exhaust manifolds are 3880827 and 3880828. Thank you for looking. On Jul-09-17 at 14:57:50 PDT, seller added the following information: To be clear. The 283 has been removed and the original rebuilt 427 is back in the car where it belongs. Sorry for the confusion. The description was written at an early time and somehow I accidentally copy and pasted the wrong description. I have all the reciepts that will go with this car. The original 427 has been bench dynoed and produced its original 390HP. I have not put 20 miles on the car since the engine has been back in the car. I have completly rebuilt all the front suspension and some of the rear suspension. The muncie 4 speed has also been refreshed along with the shifter. Engine and dash harness were also replaced with new. This car has the # correct block, carburetor, intake, heads, exhaust manifolds, distributor, water pump and retained its original radiator which I recored. It was originally a TI car so I have also purchased and installed it on the car. The car did not have power steering or power brakes and I have not upgraded because I wanted to bring the car back to the way it came off the assembly line. I refuse to add up the reciepts to know what I have spent this car but someone will be able to avoid a lot of expense because I have done much of the costly restoration.
