Last winter I drove almost 2000 miles to buy this bike. I loaded it on my pick up and brought it home as I had learned that it was a one owner, low low mileage totally original R100GS. Well, the seat had been recovered so I guess not totally original. :) As the seat would never be right, I found and ordered a new one in perfect condition, never out of it's original box, i.e. a correct stock OEM seat from S. Meyers in Germany (see pic) and immediately went to work making this bike as perfect as I could without changing it's all original nature. I needed to do something last winter as I am retired and this was my winter "job". I love this bikes all original factory applied paint that BMW calls " Velvet Violet". It was a one year only color scheme (a yellow color for the graphics). Very few were made and even fewer still exist with the original paint/graphics. Due to the low, low mileage and always garaged nature of this classic the original paint is in incredible shape. I would give it a solid 9.5 out of ten on my paint-o-meter scale. I have made a few obvious changes to the bike such as the single seat and extra rack behind the seat that Max BMW supplied for me as I like this look, but it can be changed back to the new stock OEM seat with a couple of wrenches and 10 minutes time.I also added Knight Design lower foot pegs and 20mm bar risers as I am kinda tall as well as a new shifter from Wunderlich. The last non stock item is a Migsel side stand from Europe as I detest the OEM one. All these items I can change back to stock OEM in a matter of 30 minutes. I have all the original parts that came with the bike which will go to the new owner.Everything else on the bike is original or correct OEM with most of the replaced parts from Max BMW. I have all receipts for my purchases. Some of the work that has been performed on this bike in the last 500 miles includes new pushrod tube seals, new BMW neutral switch, new oil pan gasket, carburetors rebuilt. engine completely tuned up, rear main seal and clutch were inspected and found to be in excellent condition, the splines which showed basically no wear were greased. New Shinko E705 dual sport tires have been installed in the last 200 miles. The bike comes ( not installed) a Parabellum large windscreen for the cooler weather.All gauges and lights work perfectly. The tach and speedo are smooth with accurate, bounce free needles. Tool kit is original and complete. The throttle and choke cables have been replaced with new cables from Max BMW. The BMW OEM luggage is in extremely good condition. Doubt there are many original pairs of luggage in better shape out there. No cracks, scratches etc. on these bags. The inside elastic bands that hold things from moving around also work as they should. All in all I have put quite a bit of time, money, and energy into this bike to make it as nice a R100GS as you will find, as well as one that is unique in the BMW motorcycle world. The way the bike rides and looks make me proud to offer it for sale. Please feel free to request more pics.
