Vehicle Detail
A couple years ago, I bought this 1969 California El Camino with 71K approx. miles on the original bright blue body. ( Currently its black, which is keeping all original body panels preserved). The guy I bought it from was a Big Chevelle & El Camino enthusiast who dug long and hard to find it. ( As did I, over years... to find this jewel in its current condition...) What it took the other guy to locate this 4 speed muscle specimen from California, stored for years, in a BARN.... was years. It took ME Years to find it personally! I have the CA Title that shows it was last titled in 2012, so it could be offered for sale to the guy I bought it from and the Blue CA plate that was on it shows it was last registered in CA in 1985. It was always a 4 Speed truck. When he found it, it was a 350 V-8 rolling chassis. He later located a 1967 396 Engine that was freshly rebuilt and mated it to a 4 Speed which he went thru & installed it to the original 12 bolt Posi rear end. New Stainless Brake lines & Disc Brake Setup were also installed, Master Cylinder, etc. Hedman headers & short 2 inch exhaust ahead of rear end make this 396 roar & breathe nice. I drove this El Camino home in a light snow storm from New York and it's been mostly stored since. You can see that snowbound trip in my 1st picture as we got fuel along the way home! At that time, the 396 engine had about 100 miles on it... it ran awesome....! IT Still runs awesome...! I have run it on a few occasions over the last 2 years, with no issues whatsoever & had some real fun making some dump runs & have changed the oil being thoughtful to also add Camshaft Wear Additive. It has about 600 miles on it now.... Drives Awesome. Power Galore.... Crisp Shifting, stops straight and tight front end.... Turns Eyes & Ears wherever it goes.... I'm reluctantly selling it because my 83 year old dad is dying & I have too many things on my plate & realistically won't get to painting this for another couple years.... Its as simple as that. I have 9-10 other cars, and don't have a pressing need for it, yet I know what it is... and I know what it took to find, for me & the guy before me.... I'll wait while the baller's keep coming and know, in time, the RIGHT person will step up to the plate like I did 2 years ago. This is an awesome El Camino and being paint neutral, YOU get the choice to do the color YOU want on a ROCK SOLID Original, not a WRECK that's been sewn together.... though I'd do the Original Bright Metallic Blue & run it till you die.... You're call.... After listed this, questions came up over Body condition so, here's the details. Frame is MINT... Floors are Solid, Bed is SOLID... Driver's quarter behind wheel well was lightly damaged, pulled, and skimmed with some bondo, but its not rotted. Passenger Quarter is Rock Solid, very straight, minor dings. BOTH Doors are Straight and SOLID... Glass is Tinted, Original Manual Shift Steering column has been painted since the interior picture was taken. Daytona 500 Aftermarket Mini Steering wheel is period correct for this vehicle as are the Magnesium wheels with Mega Wide Meaty tires. Carpets are new. Fenders are originals. Driver's side has a quarter sized rust area on bottom where the water usually settles behind the support strut on backside, low... VERY Easy repair. Tailgate is SOLID... Original Chrome is Still Decent! I have taken all front & rear glass stainless trim off & cleaned out the channel areas that are usually areas for hidden rot... There was NONE.... I have temporarily taped them off with Aluminum HVAC tape to keep them mint, ready for paint. Headliner has been removed & Race Buckets with Harness Slots are mounted to Solid Plates to Floor. No Hack work was done.... Clean Bolt On Arrangement where Factory Buckets Seats were. Race Seats are New & Very Supportive. Factory Seat Belts Included, yet not currently installed. This is a borderline Race Ready Big Block El Co creation in the making... Aluminized 2 inch Exhaust from Hedman Headers to mini hi-flow mufflers is very throaty sounding and Engine breathes beautifully. Wide ratio 4 speed with a 1st that is very low gear. You can roll off the clutch at an idle and run it to 25-30mph, 2nd is good to 50mph, 3rd is good to 80+ and 4th is like an overdrive... At 75, It is mid 2k's rpm in 4th gear I'd guess, so it sounds like. The factory in Dash stuck tach shows 2500 all the time. Factory Dash Clock not working. I have a AM FM factory Radio for it, not installed. Hope that answers the questions. Its a 100% SOLID Collector Grade Muscle Truck to Paint, Tweak & Enjoy.... Well worth the BUY IT NOW price, seeing the awesome running '67 396 freshly Rebuilt Engine alone is worth 1000's of dollars, the body is worth 1000s, the frame is worth 1000s and the Chassis overall is basically NEW, no rot, no issues. Vehicle History is documented from California with previous Title & License plate showing last registered in 1985 and the body clearly shows it. Either you see the deal here or you're asleep, missing what it takes to get a Solid El Co these days. I'm done with dreamers. $500 Deposit is required with Buy It Now or Offer price Immediately & remaining Balance must be in Cash or Bank Transfer within 5 days of auction end. No Checks. No Stories.... I can easily move vehicle to a large Irving Gas Station near zip code 03256 where tractor trailer service is located, its an easy place to load for transport. Thanks for Bidding.
