Vehicle Detail
For sale is our cherished weekend cruiser, 1982 Mercedes-Benz 380SL Roadster with Tan soft top ( approx. 3 years old) and matching hard top with garage rack stand. The car has slightly less than 143,000 original miles, with 43,000 put on by my wife and I over the last 13 years. We have most original service records dating back to the original sale in 1982 in Naples, FL. The car spent a few summer seasons in Massachusetts with a previous owner, but otherwise has been garage kept in Florida. This vehicle has been meticulously maintained with regular oil changes and needed service items, but it is time for us to move on and let someone else enjoy this beauty or for the vintage collector, a great starting point for restoration. Car is running smoothly as it is driven short distances regularly, with the most glaring weakness at the moment, being a sporadic operating A/C unit. It blows cold air but will shut down periodically and then restart again. I assume it is in the control panel, but at this time, it will need to be sorted out. The Michelin tires are in decent condition, but do have wear. The interior (as shown by the photos) is in nice condition. There is a Sony GT-550UI CD/Stereo with four Kenwood speakers which provide tremendous sound at cruising speeds with the top down. I do have the original Becker Grand Prix Radio/Cassette player for the vintage minded. The car has been accident free for close to 35 years, but my wife was recently hit in the rear about six months ago which required the trunk lid to be repainted and left a few scratches on the chrome bumper. Otherwise the body is rust free and the somewhat unique teal paint are in excellent condition with a mix of nicks and scratches from parking lot encounters with less than careful drivers. I think you'll find this car is better than most 35 year old cars, both mechanically and cosmetically, and would be an excellent candidate for full restoration for the 380SL devotee. Local pickup is available or you may arrange delivery with a service of your choice, obviously at Buyer's expense. Payment is to be made by Cashiers Check or Cash. Please ask any questions you may have and I'll provide honest answers.
