This 1974 is the first year of the 550 model, with an early VIN just over 1,000. This particular bike is in remarkable condition and is prim & proper after being fully serviced here at the dealership and has a number of tasteful tweaks in the cafe vein. A lot of time and attention went into improving this bike from the original without tarnishing the classic appeal. Many period-correct parts were needed to pull this off in a subtle fashion. This bike is truly a pleasure to ride and is a testamet to Honda engineering from the time. It's amazingly powerful, sounds superb, and gets a lot of attention everywhere it goes. This thing pulls pretty hard in any rev range with the four-cylinder powerplant and properly jetted carburetors. This bike sports a fully painted tank with matching side covers, both including model/brand emblems. The original seat is also present and looks marvelous. The electrical components including the lights, turn signals, horn, and electric starter all function quite well with new fuses and wiring cleaned up throughout the original control housings. Some of the tweaks from stock include the lovely four-into-one exhaust system which sounds superb and looks really sporty also. This is a period-produced piece which is no longer available - it's believed to be a Kerker item. The pro-grips are more comfortable than the originals and pair nicely with the bar-end mirrors on the original handlebars. The top triple clamp has new hex-head bolts to give the top clamp a cleaner look. The speedometer/tachometer gauges have been given a face-lift with white backdrops and custom one-off laser cut lettering to present the rider with a subtle but unique view. The backlights within the gauges have been changed out for white LED. The rear shocks have been swapped for 3/4 inch longer options from a later bike - this makes the steering geometery a slight bit more aggressive and sporty without sacrificing the vintage look that chrome dual-shocks offer. The big and bulky lunch box of a tail light was replaced with a 1971 CB450 unit which is a fair bit smaller and suits the aesthetic a lot better while remaining a Honda-brand part that bolted right up. The badges on the tank are from later bike and are a bit larger. The side-cover emblems are from a 1975, but their color pops so much better. The original owners manual and tool kit are present to complete the package. This bike has been serviced with a full carburetor cleaning and synchronization, as well as tuning to match the exhaust. No pod filters here - we preserved the original airbox setup for reliability. Other recent services included a brake fluid flush, new signal flaser relay, cam-chain tensioned, point-gap and timing set, valve clearances adjusted, brakes and drive chain adjusted, as well as lubricated control cables. It should go without saying that this cycle also has fresh tires with new tubes, new fuel hoses & filters, a brand new battery, new NGK spark plugs, fresh oil & filter, and it has received a complete inspection with a test ride to ensure safety and reliability. Yes, of course there is a clear title ready to be transfered. The cycle runs beautifully, looks superb, and is ready to be loved for years to come.________________________________________________________________________________ Click for Buyers Guide Disclosure and full Inspection Notes before bidding!
