Vehicle Detail
Thurs. 1/5/17: I went to get the title out of my safe to get it ready, and it is missing. I looked around but was unable to find it. Apparently, it's packed elsewhere from my last move. I do have a receipt from purchasing the license tabs and receipts from some service work to show that it's mine. I will do a bill of sale at completion of the auction, and I will order a new title on Monday morning before the sale ends. I'm told that a new title will take 2-6 weeks. When I purchased a used truck in December the title took about 3 weeks to get to me. I'm selling my 2003 Dodge sprinter 2500. I used this for work as a contractor in the summer and for route sales during the school year. It works great for both. The shelves I have in there were perfect for storing tools and supplies for my construction projects, and still left the majority of the van open for carrying large amounts of materials. That back end is about 12'6" long and the roof is over 6' high, so there's plenty of space. I don't know why I ever used a truck for construction! I purchased this in the spring of 2011. In the time I've owned it I've had the injectors, fuel pumps, mass air flow sensor, engine block heater, and brakes replaced, and had the transmission rebuilt by Kennedy Transmission in Bloomington MN. The transmission rebuild eliminated the "rumble strip noise" that is common in these vans. I had the windshield replaced this fall, and I ground the area down to bare metal before priming and repainting the area so that common problem area has been taken care of. The tires are all at about the same tread depth as the one pictured. I've got 2 keys/fobs for the van that both work. They keys don't work to lock the side or back doors. They only work for the front doors. The fobs lock & unlock the slider as well, and used to work for the back door before it was hit. This van is far from perfect as far as rust goes, but I sanded the whole thing down and got rid of the rust on most of the body in 2012. The trouble spots, the doors, rocker panels, and around the windows have started coming back. My plan, if I had kept it, was to replace the sliding door eventually. Overall the van runs very well. It can be tough starting when the temps are below about 40° unless you plug it in. There are 2 glow plugs that are dead and one that's at about 25%. I have the plugs, but I've never gotten around to replacing them. I've kept it parked inside a building that I keep at 50°, so I don't have a problem with it. I've kept up with the scheduled maintenance while I've had it. I've had it serviced at Chrysler dealerships in St Cloud and Burnsville, and commercial truck shops in Inver Grove Heights, Milaca, and Owatonna. The rear cargo door was hit by a forklift, so the lock on it doesn't operate. I have simply been using a tow strap to keep it closed, but I purchased a Master Lock disk lock to fasten it securely. I just haven't had the time to put it on. The radio that's in it is not original. When I bought it there was no radio, so I bought one that has a USB port on the front so that I can keep my phone plugged in and listen to my music through the stereo. The power jack and cigarette lighter on the dash don't work. I have a couple of videos that I can send you. They total about 10 1/2 minutes and give a pretty good look around the van, as well as letting you hear it run and see the gauges while it's running. I have no worries about driving the van anywhere in the country. I routinely ran it 200-300 miles without a break when I was using it. The only thing is, and if you've owned one or researched them much you probably already know this, that if you run it for a couple of hundred miles and then shut it off, you need to leave it off for awhile until it cools down to restart it again. That usually means about 20-30 minutes. The only time it's ever come up for me is when I stop for fuel on long road trips. It's never come up in my normal day to day driving, which is anywhere from 1-100 miles, then a 10-20 minute stop, before hitting the road again. I usually ran it for about 250-300 miles per day, with about 10-12 stops along the route in my normal daily driving, and never had an issue. I may be willing to deliver for you for a fee if you wish. The fee will depend on where you are and will be enough to cover my fuel, a hotel if needed, and return trip costs. If you fly in to pick it up I will certainly pick you up at MSP airport, as the van is about 75 miles from there. That's likely the cheapest airport to fly into in the area. St Cloud is the other airport nearby. Please ask me any questions you may have before bidding ends. I'll be on vacation the 4th-8th, but I will check my e-mail at least a few times per day and respond as quickly as I can. If you include a phone number and a request for a call, I'll call you back. I'll be on the east coast, so let me know where you are and when it's ok to call.
