With the holidays right around the corner here’s your chance to get a beautifully restored 1986 Honda Z50RD Christmas Special just in time for the 30 year anniversary! Back in 1986 the top U.S. Honda dealers were each allotted two of these special bikes, with only a total of 3000 being produced, making this a rare and sought after model. I’m including an extremely rare NOS OEM Honda gas tank that is still in the factory Honda packaging. Incredible attention to detail went into this restoration. For the restoration process this bike was completely disassembled. The engine was fully rebuilt and bench run and then the oil drained. The engine case covers, hubs, and brake plates were professionally polished. The rims, exhaust heat shields, number plate brackets, foot pegs, and lower chain guard were re-chromed. All the other chrome was in very good shape and was cleaned/polished. The carb was rebuilt and lightly polished and all new fuel lines installed. All of the hardware was re-plated or replaced with OEM Honda parts. Both front and rear fenders are NOS OEM Honda parts. The rear shocks were disassembled, refinished, and new shock guides installed. The front forks were also disassembled, cleaned, and new dust covers installed. The air box and cables are new OEM Honda parts. New tubes and Bridgestone Trail Wings were mounted. Upper chain guard is a new OEM Honda part. The chain and sprockets are also new OEM Honda parts. The grips, number plates, and seat are reproduction parts from Re-Mx that match the original parts. The NOS OEM tank shown in the last pictures will be included. These are extremely rare and are typically around $1000+ if they come available on eBay. The NOS tank is still in the original Honda box with the Honda packaging. Currently the tank mounted on the bike in the photos is a reproduction tank made by TB Parts. It looks excellent and is very suitable for display. If the buyer chooses I can mount the NOS tank prior to shipping. Otherwise I will leave the reproduction tank on and ship the NOS tank separately. This bike looks as good (or better) as when it was rolled out onto the showroom floor 30 years ago. Since completing the restoration no fuel has been added to the tank since it is displayed indoors. The new fuel lines and rebuilt carb have never seen fuel either. Please look at the photos as I’m not sure what more I can say to describe it. The Z50RD was off road only, so therefore was not titled. eBay doesn’t have an option for that so I had to mark “clear title.” I will include a bill of sale. Reserve is set lower than the buy it now price. I include a buy it now option for the buyer that does not want to risk losing an auction at the last second. Bike is available for local pick up or inspection. Shipping is the buyer’s responsibility, and I will work with the buyer and shipper.
