This is the BMW 1200 RT-P authority model. This is the bike many police, fire and EMS departments use across the country. If you're used to BMWs then you have a sense of how it handles. Powerful ABS EVO brakes stop on a dime, the motor is powerful and smooth, and the handling is nimble and instant. The windscreen adjusts up and down electronically when stationary or while moving - an amazing feature if rain or cold weather sets in during a ride. Hard saddle bags are water resistant and lockable, as is the rear top case. Some riders take this off and replace with a second seat, others use it for extra storage. It also locks and keeps dry in the rain. Driver seat is height adjustable. Throttlemeister bar ends allow throttle to be pinned at any setting for highway use on the fly. This is a real wrist saver on those long rides. And you will want to take this bike on long trips. It's super comfortable, designed for officers who sit in that saddle eight to ten hours per shift. It's so powerful and stable on the highway you'll find yourself taking it on long all day rides with no discomfort at all. To add to all day rideability, the fuel tank holds a massive 7.1 gallons of fuel, good for about 330 miles between gas station visits. Also unique to the authority model is a second battery, as seen in photos. Designed for officers who leave the emergency lights on after the motor has been shut down, the second battery runs in parallel with the first ensuring you'll never be left with a dead battery. You can park this bike out in the cold for days, possibly weeks, and it will start right up no problem. They both charge together when riding or when plugged into a trickle charger. Additionally for those of you who ride in cooler weather the bike has two accessory ports to plug in heated clothing, GPS, phones or other accessories. If you decide to convert the rear radio box to a passenger seat, there is a second accessory port next to the rear passenger for their heated apparel as well.
