Vehicle Detail

Willys M38A1Hi, up for auction is my 1952 M38A1 Willys. The Willys has seen a very colorful life, starting with its tour of duty during the Korean War era to its rebirth as a rim fire Willys Jeep, putting out rim fires along the Northern Sierras in the Tahoe National Forest. Bumps and bruises tell the story of the life of this non-stop built to do service, Willys. 90 thousand original miles. All of the Military accessories are still on the Willys and intact. I've owned this Willys for several years and have had a blast driving the Willys on and off road, mostly off road. The Willys has never let me down. This is a numbers matching Jeep! Fresh tuneup, fresh rebuilt carb, This Willys is turn key and ready to go, and is a blast to drive. The 'ol Willys get thumbs up everywhere we go, and, I've never washed it, the Willys has earned the dirt and dust that this workhorse wears! Below is a bit of history in regards to the legacy of the Willys M38A1....Enjoy! The Willys is located in the San Francisco Bay Area and is available to be seen and driven. I have taken detailed pictures of the Willys, if there is a specific picture you would like to see, please ask. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have, you can email me or call me direct at (650)400-8836Thanks for the interest, good luck on the auction, and....HAPPY BIDDING! It was widely procured by the U.S. military from 1952 until 1957, after which it was purchased by theU.S. Marine Corps and exported to foreign governments until the end of production in 1971. The Marine version had minor differences from the units used by other branches. The production information available for these vehicles suggests a much more limited production run. The 1955 Jeep CJ-5 was based on the M38A1.Drive Train The M38A1 used the Willys Hurricane F-Head 134 inline-four engine, T-90 3 speed transmission, Dana 18 transfer case, either the Dana 25 or the Dana 27 front axle, and Dana 44 rear axle.
