74 Ventura Up for bid is a 1974 Pontiac Ventura. Super straight body with nice chrome but some lower rust in the same places the Chevy Nova rusts. Undercarriage and subframe are SOLID. Powered by the original 350 2 bbl Pontiac V8 engine and TH350 3 speed automatic transmission. Open rear end but not sure of gears - turns count 2.73, which is about right. Shows 81k miles, former owner declares original (he's owned the car since 1984). Some receipts but not a lot (rebuilt trans in 1996.) Nowhere near perfect. Runs and drives well enough - carb has a dead spot on quick throttle and idles a little rough until choke opens but could be driven home. Questions? Pleasant after 6:30 pm weekdays or any time weekends by appointment. NO RESERVE Condition Report ENGINE: Runs on all eight cylinders without smoking, missing or knocking. Engine runs at proper temperature. Good battery & charging system. Starts easy (4 or 5 pumps) and runs strong. TRANSMISSION: Performs beautifully. Engages gears quickly and shifts through all forward gears and reverse with good downshift and torque converter performance. Clean fluid with no burn odors. EXTERIOR: Body: Body is very straight but has some rust on lower panels and around taillights as well photographed. Paint: Car sports a repaint that is about 8 years old but looks good - very close to original color. Trim and grille and bezels and handles were REMOVED for this paint job - no spray on things that shouldn't have it! Other: All glass is good. Undercarriage is super solid, underhood sheet metal, trunk sill and door jambs have no rust as seen in pics. The trunk was bone dry when I got it but hosing around taillight let some water in - I've sealed it from the inside to protect. No rust in the drip rails or window channels. Dogdigs hubcaps are nearly perfect - no curb rash. Chrome bumpers are shiny and not pitted, as are the mirrors and door handles. INTERIOR: Interior of the car is very nice. Dash has no cracks and is still shiny. Cloth seating areas are in great shape with some tears in driver's area (looks like correct miles). No carpet - original rubber floor liner and floor mats. Headliner is nice - minor sag in rear. Steering wheel is not cracked or peeling. Door panels are nearly perfect (tiny tear on driver's door vinyl). Trunk is nice and clean and has original spare and jack. Very nice interior overall. ELECTRICAL STUFF: All inspection items work (lights, horn, wipers, etc.) There are NO options on this car. The AM radio doesn't work and the blower doesn't either but there is power going to it. DRIVEABILITY: Drives out well. Steering is tight, alignment is dead on, suspension is tight for a car this size. Brakes work well with good linings. Tires have about 50% tread remaining on a matched set of whitewall radials but they are VERY old and need replacement before a long drive. Solid exhaust pipes. Passenger exhaust manifold has a leak (manifold is not cracked). Has power steering (works well) but MANUAL 4 wheel drum brakes (push hard to stop).
