Vehicle Detail
1995 BMW E36 M3 – VIN WDBEA66E3PB848296 For your consideration is my clean 1995 E36-chassis BMW M3 Luxury Package finished in Boston Green with Champagne leather – a combination only available in 1995. Wearing just under 202,000 miles (under 10K/year average), this car has been our family weekend cruiser for a little while, but as a freelance automotive journalist and car junkie, I have the opportunity for a car of a lifetime, and my fun car has to go. I have 2 sets of factory keys (driver’s door cylinder replaced, different key), original books and manuals, original sales brochures, and some service records. This is the more unusual one-year-only US version M3 with the 3.0 liter S50B30 engine and no OBD II. The key major service items on these cars, especially with higher mileage, is the cooling system, cylinder head, and suspension. All three of these have been addressed on this car in the past couple of years by the previous owner. Additionally, the clutch and throwout bearing are literally brand new, with less than 500 miles on them. The car starts, runs, and shifts like a car with 30,000 miles tops. What’s more, the temperature needle sits right where it should even on 95-degree humid mid-Atlantic days – with the AC running (and cooling the car brilliantly)! The check engine light cycles properly but goes off as it should after the car is started. The oil was changed about 500 miles ago.I can find no signs of accidents, as original VIN stickers are present throughout the car. The suspension was upgraded with Koni Sport shocks, and is in great condition. The rear subframe mounts are intact. On the inside, this car is in very nice condition. The black velour carpet is in excellent condition, and is covered with factory M3 carpet floormats. The power leather sport seats and dash show only the slightest patina of age but have been re-dyed at some point in the correct color. There are no foul odors – there doesn’t appear to have ever been any smoking or leaks inside. The black headliner is in very nice condition. The power windows, sunroof, optional heated seats, and power locks all work properly, and the car is current on the stringent Virginia emissions and safety inspections. The aftermarket Kenwood radio turns on and off properly, and it has a glove-compartment-mounted iPod connector. There is also a CD changer located in the trunk. Outside, the car is remarkably straight save for a few small parking lot dings. The only sign of rust anywhere on the car that I can find is a tiny spot at the top of the windshield (pictured). The Boston Green paint carries a nice shine, although the top surface of the rear bumper is somewhat faded. The doors shut with the appropriate thunk while the windows drop just a hair like they are supposed to when they are opened. All of the lenses are in good, clear condition. The alloy wheels are original BMW M-Contours. There is a full-sized spare tire in the trunk along with a tool kit and jack. The motor starts easily and settles to a very smooth idle. The power steering functions properly, and the 5-speed manual transmission shifts smoothly. There are no odd noises or whines from the driveline. The brakes are in good condition and do not pull. The car pulls like a freight train and achieves super-legal speeds in the blink of an eye. Those who know these cars know that when they are maintained they will go forever. There is no smoke, shudder or shake in the car, and it looks and feels far younger than it is. It's a joy to drive on the back roads, or could be used daily without worrying about diminishing collector value. But it still gets lots of love and attention at local Cars & Coffee events, and even at the gas pump! Please keep in mind that this is not a new vehicle and that it is sold as-is, where-is with no warrantees implied, stated, or otherwise intended. You are bidding to own this vehicle, not to come and look at it after the auction has ended. I encourage bidders to come and see the car if possible. You are welcome to have the car inspected at your expense prior to the conclusion of the auction. Remember, my descriptions are based on my knowledge of the car. I cannot say that it is without flaws. I don't care what classic car you are looking at, it will have flaws. I can assure you that this is a superb car that you can cherish for years to come. A non-refundable deposit of $500 must be sent by PayPal within 24 hours of the conclusion of the auction. The balance must be paid within seven days of the end of the auction or upon pick-up of the car, whichever is earlier. The balance of the purchase price may NOT be made by PayPal. I will accept cash, bank wire transfer, or cashier's check only. Purchaser is responsible for pick-up or all costs related to the shipping of the car. PLEASE BE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN THAT YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT YOUR BID. IF YOU HAVE ZERO OR NEGATIVE FEEDBACK, YOU MUST CONTACT ME THROUGH EBAY PRIOR TO BIDDING. I WILL CANCEL YOUR BID IF YOU DO NOT. DO NOT BID ON THE CAR UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO PURCHASE IT AS YOU ARE ENTERING INTO A BINDING AGREEMENT.
