Vehicle Detail

A rare 1971 Dodge Charger SUPER BEE.This was the lowest production year for the 1968-71 Dodge Super Bees. There were only about 5000 Charger Super Bees produced in 1971. Less than 3000 of those came factory equipped with a 383-4 barrel motor and the heavy duty automatic transmission like this one. This is not a clone or a "tribute" car,it is without a doubt a genuine Super Bee. That fact can be documented by decoding the vehicle identification numbers and letters which had a specific code for Super Bees. .Dont let the front bench seat fool you, that was standard equipment on the low budget but high performance Super Bee.Bucket seats and other options that added weight but did not improve performance were optional. The Super Bee package did come standard with a heavy duty front sway bar,HD springs,HD torsion bars, and HD 11" drum brakes, etc. This particular car has undergone a partial restoration but it has obviously not been completed. It started out as a solid car that spent most of its life in dry New Mexico. Many thousands of dollars have been spent too get this far.The bodywork and repaint of the original red color was done many years ago The car has been sitting indoors but unfinished ever since..It has a decent driver quality paint and body job with a few minor flaws. There are also a few chips here and there from being moved around while in storage. A good polish and detailing would do wonders for it.It is not ready for Barrett Jackson but it will still turn heads. The best part is that you can actually drive it without getting a stomach ulcer if a bird craps on it or if the neighbors kid decides to ride his first two wheeler past it every five minutes when you park it out front.. The door jambs, trunk, and engine bay were prepped and repainted also. The majority of the body appears to have been very solid before paint was applied..Upon close up inspection I do see evidence of some body filler in both rear quarter panels. The rest of the body panels including the doors, fenders, rockers, hood, decklid, roof, etc appear to have had very little rust or rust repair that I can detect. The floors, front and rear frame rails, trunk pan, and entire undercarriage are in amazing original condition. That is the original factory primer you see on the interior floor pans.I could only find a small pencil sized hole in the drivers floor pan and that's it! I have never seen an undercarriage this solid on any car from this era. The fender emblems, hood emblems, decals, and stripes are new.The rear bumper is brand new.The front bumper is original and has lost some of its shine. The trunk weatherstrip is new.I have brand new parts including door weatherstrips, tailight /marker light lens gaskets, motor mounts,an oil pan, and a rubber body bumper kit still in the box,etc...The interior is sun baked and needs work such as seat covers, carpet, headliner, etc. The interior door and rear side panels are presentable except for the cracked drivers armrest pad.. All the glass is good and the windows roll up and down nicely. The original 383 motor and trans are long gone. The original 8 3/4 rear axle is still in the car.I am including with the car a 1973 440 4 barrel big block and a 727 auto trans. This motor and trans were in running condition when pulled from a wreck a few years ago. They have also been stored indoors. The motor still turns freely.I have temporarily installed the motor and trans in the engine bay.I have not connected anything or even bolted them down. They were only installed for storage purposes and to make transporting the car easier. I would freshen them both up or at the least clean and inspect them before permanent installation. There is a nice vintage set of aluminum slot wheels on the car with two brand new tires and two good used tires.I have a small pile of parts that go with the car including doubles of some items but there are things missing like the exhaust manifolds and radiator, etc. This car is still a project but considering the work that has been done it will be much easier to finish quickly and enjoy.Chargers from this era(especially Super Bees and R/Ts) are rapidly increasing in value and here is your chance to get one fairly cheap. I have a clear NJ title.I encourage you to come and see the car if possible. It is being sold AS IS.I have more photos if you need them.PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU ARE NOT SERIOUS AND DO NOT INTEND TO BUY THE CAR! PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU FEEL ARE IMPORTANT BEFORE BIDDING!! THESE AUCTIONS DO COST TIME AND MONEY. Thank you and good luck!
