Vehicle Detail

96 Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE You are bidding on a 1991 Jaguar XJ-S “Collector’s” Edition Coupe. The car is being offered at no-reserve. She also has very low miles, only 54,500.(Be sure to check Facebook.com/theburtcollection for my blog where I write about cars - 35,000 followers strong) 1991 was the last year of the “originally” styled XJS. In 1992 Jaguar removed the xx from the side rear side windows and had already moved to an oblong single headlight. Both of these changes resulted in a less aesthetic appearance, in my opinion. Hence, the 1991 stands alone as the last year of the originally intentioned design Recalling that the XJ-S was a follow up the acclaimed XKE, it was a hard act to follow, stylistically. However, mechanically the XJ-S was improved in many areas. The wonderful V12 engine, however, remained. A work of automotive excellence, the V12 is a virtual vibration free power plant. I’ve long liked the XJ-S for its style and engine. I am surprised that the market value is still so reasonable. Of course, compared to the XKE many other collector’s cars seem reasonable. The point is, the XJ-S should see a healthy appreciation in value in the coming years. Over the last twelve months, values have already shown an appreciable increase. I bought the XJ-S to collect. However, I’ve since sold my storage building and must liquidate many of the cars in my collection. Sadly, the XJ-S must go – but that means someone will get e great deal. Here are the features of the car · 54,500 miles.· Her factory color is called; Oyster by Jaguar and interior is called; Beige (not camel). Incidentally, looking at the pictures it appears as though the driver's door is discolored - this does not appear in person. It is a reflection in the photos - I can take additional photos upon request. · The exterior has minor spots of rust bubbling on the rocker panel when I received her. As we restore our own cars, we fixed the bubbling correctly, applied PAR15 and repainted both sides.· She should be rust free for a very long time (stored correctly).· The center console wood veneer was peeling (a usual problem for many Jags, so I purchased a newly refinished piece and we installed it. It looks factory fresh. (picture provided)· All of the gauges work properly, even the rudimentary center “information” computer. · We also changed the rear inboard brakes and rotors. This is not an easy job. It took two full days. If you are looking for an XJ-S, it is imperative that these brakes and rotors be professionally changed. The entire rear suspension, on both sides, needs to be removed.· Our XJ-S has the optional wire wheels. They look great but are showing some signs of surface rust, not on the spindles, rather on the chrome caps (internal and external) – I can provide pictures.· The tires are in excellent condition with many miles left. I’d say 90% tread remaining.· The interior leather is in very good condition with wear commensurate with the age and miles. I believe that the car was female owned btw · The rear seats are as new – simply because no one can ever fit back there.· The paint is in very good condition, again commensurate with the age of the car.· We just tuned up the car, which included wires, plugs, rotor cap and timing. The V12 engine tune up is also no walk in the park taking a half a day. You won’t need another for years now.· The engine oil and filter were also changed this week. · The car drives straight, brakes true and is quite the English conveyance. The radio works well, but oddly requires the code to be entered at every start. We think she requires a new battery and one will be installed before the winning bidder receives the car. (Update - battery purchased.) · The headliner is excellent.· The wood on the doors and dashboard are in excellent, fade free condition. · The new brakes, in the rear, do drag a very little bit – (we’ve only put one mile on it after the brake job) – they need to seat a bit.· There is a CD player in the trunk (see picture) but I have no idea how to use it. Everything in this car works fine, so I would assume it will also. I’ll find a magazine for it and give it a go. If you are reading this listing, you already know about this English classic. She is currently underpriced in the market and a great car to collect. In 1991 the car retailed for nearly $60,000, which was more than the Mercedes SL. Here is a quick blurb on the Classic Collector Edition found on conceptcarz.com The 1991 Jaguar XJS was available as either a coupe or a convertible with the base coupe selling for $53,000 while the convertible sold for $63,600. Power was from an overhead-cam 24-valve aluminum V12 offering 265 horsepower. It had a multi-point fuel injection system along with twin spray injectors. The engine was mated to a four-speed automatic gearbox, four-wheel disc brakes, and a rack-and-pinion steering system. For 1991, two new interior colors were added, including Magnolia and Doeskin. Charcoal-toned leather trim was added to the shift knob and to the steering wheel, and contrasting piping was on the upholstery. The Classic Collection XJS was only available to the United States market. It is appointed similar to the Collection Rouge with lattice alloy wheels, four-headlight arrangement, new Classic badging on the boot lid and a gold-plated growler badge on the hood This is, remember, a no reserve auction. The last bidder wins. Now for the legalese: This is a no reserve auction. The car is not new, it is used and sold as-is, where is. We encourage email questions and inspections.
