Vehicle Detail

1975 Pontiac GrandVille Brougham Convertible selling at "No Reserve" I recently purchased this sweet 1975 Pontiac GrandVille Brougham Convertible from an elderly woman in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin that bought it in 2003. Apparently she had always wanted a classic convertible, but only ended up driving it for a year and then it was put in storage by her husband for the past twelve years. The complete exhaust system was replaced from the front to the back before it was stored all these years, so all the pipes and muffler still look and sound in good condition. This antique Pontiac was last registered ending in April of 2004 as apparent by the license plates. I've always had a soft spot for the GrandVille since my father purchased one brand new in 1974, and that was the car I used to drive around in high school on the weekends. Therefore I do know a little about the back round on these full size luxury classics. As much as I would like to restore this car myself and bring it back to its former glory the funds are needed for another project. The GrandVille only had a very short four year run, but they were considered the top of the line in the Pontiac Motor Division. To find one in a convertible running at "No Reserve" in solid original condition is getting harder and harder to find these days. 1975 was the last year for the GrandVille and the last year Pontiac made a convertible for almost 2 decades. If you simply double click on the main picture of the auction page then all 24 pictures will be able to be viewed in the larger size by clicking the arrows on each side of the larger pictures. I will explain everything I found out from the previous owner at the point of purchase. The husband said this is the original numbers matching 400 cubic inch engine with the original quadrajet carburetor. This rare code 74 paint is original to the car as shown on the data plate picture. I was told this is the original paint and from everywhere I looked I believe that to be true. Remember they only come original once!! The original manufacturers safety standards decal is still present on the inside of the drivers door showing the vehicle identification number matches the body. I saw no signs of this car ever being in any accidents. I believe all of the panels to be original to this car. The only non-original paint I could find is on the rear quarter panel skirts also known as gangster covers. Those were repainted at some point. This car was in dry storage for the past decade and I was told it was garage kept by the prior owners that had it before the people that I acquired the car from. The original hood ornament that was typically stolen on these cars by the late 70's is still on the front of the hood. That affirms that it must have always been garage kept. I believe being stored inside out of the elements was why this 41 year old car held up so well over the years. I also noticed that this body was undercoated from the factory with Ziebart rustproofing after seeing the yellow plugs in various spots around the car. I showed pictures of how the Ziebart plugs were applied in several areas as seen on the corner of the drivers door picture, and inside the trunk lid. I picked this car up in Pleasant Prairie which is about 5 miles from my home in Kenosha and drove it safely to my house without issue. This GrandVille starts right up and drives down the road straight, and the brakes do stop the car. I would suggest that the new owner replace all the fluids and give this car a long overdo tune-up. The last owner never tuned it up, so it has been over a decade since any fluids were changed or since the last tune up was done. I stopped and put $25 of premium gas in the tank on my ride home. The convertible top will need to be replaced, but the material is still present on the frame, and the top goes up and down rather well. The convertible top will be put up for pick-up or shipping. The original burgundy California boot cover is included in this auction. There was a new alternator installed by the previous owner and a brand new top of the line DieHard heavy duty battery. There is a brand new set of four burgundy premium luxury carpeted floor mats. The original carpet is still in good shape, and yes, the old school cup holder is included in this auction. The seat bottoms will need to be reupholstered, but the backs of the seats still look presentable. The 6-way power bench seat works on all positions. The windshield is believed to be original with no cracks or chips. The power windows all go up and down well with the exception of the drivers rear. That motor goes up and down as it should, but the window will need to be adjusted. All of the original factory seat belts are still in place. The original stereo was replaced with a JVC AM/FM cassette player with an Alphasonik Graphic Equalizer in the glove compartment, and an Alphasonik power amplifier mounted in the trunk. The factory speakers are in the dash with Pioneer speakers mounted on the sides of the back seat. The original 1975 Pontiac factory owner's manuals are included in the glove compartment. The factory options include power steering, power disc brakes, power windows, power door locks, power bench seat, tilt wheel, sport mirrors, rally wheels, burgundy body side molding, bumper guards, and air conditioning. The air conditioning compressor is missing the belt, but spins freely. The balance of the a/c system looks to be in place, but will need to be hooked up by the new owner if they so desire. There is a set of four one inch white wall tires on the original 15" inch Pontiac rally wheels with all four of the correct center caps and all four of the correct beauty trim rings for 1975. This classic rides with Radial Tuned Suspension that still has the rear stabilizer bar attached to the rear-end. In my opinion the floors and frame look to be all original and in good condition as shown in the pictures. The trunk floor still has the original trunk mat, spare tire cover, and even the original cardboard quarter panel inserts and the inserts along the inside of the tail lights. That is how original this car still is. The original jack, jack stand and crow bar were nicely detailed and still in the trunk that also carries a full size spare. This way in case there is a mishap this land yacht can be back on the road in minutes. I was told the current odometer reading at just under 28,000 miles is believed to be original, but I have no way to verify that statement to be factual. After looking this body over and the condition of the original paint I would tend to believe the mileage could possibly be correct. Nevertheless, it should be considered that it may have rolled over, but the majority of states on all vehicles over 10 years old do not show the mileage on fresh titles nowadays. I'm selling this GrandVille with an open, clean, and clear State of Wisconsin title that has the odometer reading as exempt on the current title. Why not make your money work for you while you enjoy yourself. Sure this old beauty could use a full restoration to make it a super nice car again, but it could be used while several items are being refurbished. Remember when the top goes down the price goes up! The Nada Classic Car Price Guide that anyone can look up on-line has the 1975 Pontiac GrandVille Convertible with the 400/4 barrel carburetor and air conditioning valued at $27,600 in high condition, which they consider an excellent overall vehicle that was completely restored, or an original vehicle showing very minimal wear. Note: This value does not represent a 100 point show car or a #1 vehicle. Those vehicles can reach much higher prices. $17,820 in average condition, which they consider in good overall condition that could be an older restoration or a well maintained original vehicle that is completely operable. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. They say an average condition car is considered a 20-Footer! Nada has the lowest condition value at $9,780 being considered a deteriorated restoration or a very poor restoration, but mostly usable "As-Is!" The lowest value does not represent a parts car, but would be considered as the price for a car needing a complete restoration. The numbers don't lie! This GrandVille Convertible is a very valuable classic automobile! These 1971-1975 Pontiac GrandVille Convertible's have consistently shown to escalate in value with each quarter.
