Vehicle Detail

Hi, I am auctioning my 1967 Honda 305 Superhawk which has been in my family since 1969 which is longer than I have been around. My father purchased this motorcycle in 1969 as used and commuted with it through to the mid 1970s. I think my father would even roll it into his office at work since he was a shop teacher for middle and high schools, not sure that would go over well these days. It was always stored inside garages and had been running up until 2000, where it sat in a garage until 2010. I installed new tires, cleaned the carbs, and repaired side cover about 6-7 years ago and it has be ridable ever since. This motorcycle is a survivor with original paint and parts as shown, never restored or overhauled. The mileage is high but the hot compression is still decent at around 120 psi for both cylinders, no oil added to the cylinders. No repaints or major repairs other than what was needed to keep the bike in running and driving condition. This motorcycle is not perfect, please note the following....My uncle took this motorcycle for a ride (without asking my father) and ended up hitting a large dog or deer in the early 1970s. This tweaked the headlight bucket and front fender but doesn't appeared to have twisted the steering head or triple clamps as far as I can tell. No real repairs or parts were replaced at the time but there is some very old red touch-up paint and dents on the side of the headlight bucket. Please look at the photos carefully. Original rectifier stopped functioning, I have replaced the rectifier itself without modifying the wiring harness. I have the original part. The original aluminum right engine case fractured over the years. I found a better side cover that was still cracked and I had a local restoration shop weld the aluminum. The kick starter works fineThe starter clutch has begun to "squawk", I think the fine little springs inside have fatigued, a $40 starter clutch rebuild kit would most likely solve the problem. The original key fell out a few years ago will riding and was lost. The lock tumbler itself is worn, does not hold onto keys tightly, and has been disassembled to allow a replacement key to work. The steering lock is not installed on the bike but I do have the parts for it. The tires are 6-7 years old, the battery is nearing the end of its life and doesn't like to crank over too long before going dead. The mirrors are aftermarket recent reproductions. One is twisted and bent at the base, I did this because I mistakenly bought two of the same side years ago. The set I took off are badly rusted. The inside of the gas tank is clean and has never been sealed. I removed any inside rust with Evaporust years ago so no sealer was needed nor was the painted damaged. I replaced the steering's ball bearings with modern tapered bearings. There is oil the exterior area of the head, near and on the spark plugs. Various tach, speedo, clutch, and brake cable outer sheathings are worn but still function fine. I just installed new OE-type air filters and carb tubes over the winter, less than 6 months old. I have installed a vintage-type turn signal system, I did not modify or cut into the original harness, just picked up power from the back of the ignition switch. Easily removable with no permanent changes done during install.Replaced main ground strap from battery to engine case. The tank emblems are reproductions but have the original screws. I have the original emblems in poor condition. My father transferred the title to me a couple years ago so I have a current and clear title in my name. Otherwise, this bike is pretty much as shown, a tired but complete and well-stored example. The engine still has plenty of power and doesn't smoke. The brakes and clutch function fine, sometimes 1st to 2nd needs a bit of extra effort to not fall into neutral. The plugs are a nice brown hue from a recent ride around town. The bike has always been cold-blooded but kicks off and idles easily when warmed up. This is a vintage motorcycle and is being sold as-is and where-is, no warranty expressed or implied. Shipping is not included or provided, buyer must make all arrangements for pick-up and transportation but I am flexible with storage. Here are a few videos taken on April 12th, 2016... I am selling because I have had my fun with it, my father lives on another coast now enjoying a SV650. Given unlimited time, space, and money, I would keep it but ultimately have decided to offer it for sale. Please contact me with any questions, I will try my best to answer, thanks for looking!! Tim
