Vehicle Detail
I had purchased a 928 new in 1982, and sold it several years later. Nostalgia got the best of me, and I recently decided I wanted to put a 928 in my car collection. I purchased this 1981 here in Denver from a German fellow who was selling it because he was going back to Germany for an extended period of time, and had no place to store it. Then, irony of all ironies, a friend of mine who I had been pestering for about a year to sell me his 1984, 928 with 42K original miles called me to say he was ready to sell it. So, I bought it. Now I have two and really only space for one, therefore I am selling the 1981 with a VERY LOW RESERVE. The car fax goes back to 1987 indicating it was in Iowa @ 20,230 miles. From there it went to Nebraska and onto Colorado in 2006 @ 58,464 miles. While in Nebraska an accident was reported, but there is no evidence of it either on the frame or body, so it must have been an “insurance thing”. The car starts, runs and drives very good. It has great acceleration, shifts smoothly, and the alignment appears good. It is very tight with no rattles, quiet inside, and the exhaust sounds great. The tires are virtually new, and the original wheels are in good condition with no rash or scuffs. Mechanically, the car is in very good condition. The body is straight, the paint is Platinum Metallic, and there are several areas where it has faded or flaked. There are no rust issues with the car. The odometer shows 70,581, however the speedo is not operable. All of the gauges are working, as does the temperature control system. The electrical systems work correctly, including lights, turn signals, back up lights, wipers, etc. The sunroof operates, but requires “manual assistance”. The glass all around is in good condition. The original space saver spare tire and pump are in the car. The interior has some challenges, namely that the passenger seat bottom will need to be reupholstered. The dash pod does have two thin cracks, otherwise the interior is in very good condition, given that the car is 35 years old. The radio is an aftermarket Kenwood, which operates correctly. The passenger window does not operate, but the driver’s side does as does the remote rear view mirrors on both sides. Address the cosmetic issues, and you will have a very nice ’81 Porsche 928. To see all 43 pictures I have taken of the car go to this Dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/bgs54pjl3jl02od/AADJyimCC-jLk24_9FRZaH4wa?dl=0 This is a very low reserve auction, since I really do not have space for it. The vehicle is sold as is, and I have accurately described it to the best of my knowledge along with many pictures. The auction may end early as I have it for sale locally. Shipping is the responsibility of the winning bidder.
