1968 Ford Mustang Fastback Project VIN# 8F02C149xxx 1968 FORD MUSTANG FASTBACK PROJECT from MustangBeginnings If you have ever wanted a 68 Mustang Fastback project that was affordable, This is the car! It would make a great Father and Son project. This is an original V-8, 289 “C” code car, with 5 lug suspension both front and rear. Call us if you need a different engine or transmission, no problem we have most kinds, and are available separately at very reasonable prices. The original color was Sunlit Gold, with Nugget Gold Standard Bucket Seats. A beautiful combination if you decide to restore it to its original colors, please see the last picture BELOW. The 1968 Mustang brought buyers into the showrooms by the thousands and Ford’s strategy worked—selling more Mustangs than ever before. When fully restored, this car will easily sell for $40,000 or more. BODY: The floors on this fastback needed replacing, so we cut out both sides and added in new floor pans which will need to be welded in place along with the seat supports ( see interior pictures). The body is in good shape, but the tail panel and lower quarters will need to be replaced. We have included the lower quarter patch panels, trunk floor drop offs, and a new tail panel. If you want to do quarter skins and outer wheel houses, we can substitute those pieces for the lower quarter patch panels, your call. There is also some rust around the windows but the holes are small and should be able to be filled in. You will need new headlight buckets as the old ones all have broken tabs. The restoration needed is not hard to do if you or a friend have some welding skill. Overall this Mustang is a great candidate for a concourse restoration. INTERIOR: The interior will need new door panels, dash pad, upholstory, carpet, and a new roof liner, but that is really the easiest part of the restoration. The good news is that you can see what is needed. You aren’t accepting someone else’s mistakes or bad repairs. All the wiring, instrument panel, seats, etc. will come with the car but will need to be restored. Both front buckets seats will be included. Used door panels and dash pad are available, but you will probably want new ones if you are going for concourse condition. ENGINE BAY: Engine bay is in great condition. The 289 engine and C-4 automatic transmission are included with the car. The engine might turn over, but both it and the transmission should be rebuilt for dependibility.. We can supply any other combination of engine/transmission (351, 390, etc.) desired. Please contact us separately for pricing. BRAKE SYSTEM: The mustang has front and rear drum brakes. They are intact and complete. If you would rather have front disk brakes, we can add those for $1,000. GLASS: The fastback will need a new windshield and door glass but the rear window glass is intact. MISC. The Mustang comes with everything shown in the pictures, plus front seats, and most all of its parts.
